Hi everyone,

I came across this page and thought it might be helpful for some with chronic lung disease. I did notice that this topic was raised a few years ago but thought this might help others who were unaware of it.

Best to all.

I was told once I had ntm but every time they do a culture it comes back normal. Yet still I have the productive cough. Thanks for the article. We do soak our shower head in vinegar periodically.

Thanks for this- very useful. I had read about this before but it’s good to see it in a poster format. I recently bought a shower head which filters out bacteria but I still keep the window open and avoid steam at all costs!

Years ago I read about shower heads in Spanish hotels causing legionnaires disease and have made sure that I always unscrew and empty the pipe after every shower and clean it out regular, just in case x

To clean fill a plastic bag about halfway with white vinegar. (Use quart-sized bags for faucets and gallon sized bags for showerheads). Wrap the bag around the fixture so that anyplace where water exits is completely submerged in the vinegar. Use a rubber band to hold the bag in place and leave it for an hour or so. Then remove the bag and rinse with water, using a toothbrush to scrub away any lingering residue. Do this at least once a month.

That’s how I clean mine too , but I don’t do it as often as I should . I buy cheap white vinegar .I clean my kettle with vinegar as well.
