I'm fin ed when sitting down ! It's when I get up to do anything have a few hours in the day when ok I've watched humidity pollution levels etc don't have heavy meal late etc has as nyo e got any ideas I've never in working life seen anyone change overnight so drastically with COPD other that obviously with an exacerbation help would be appreciated thank you

Hi it may very well be an infection brewing. I had something similar and a spike in temp over a 24 hour period then it settled. Dr thinks another virus was the likely cause and I’ve tested negative for covid. I needed steroids to get through the worse of it. Is it possible you were exposed to an allergen that triggered the breathlessness? Seek medical attention as soon as.

I ended up taking 3 weeks steroids and Doxicyclin GP said it was an exacerbation and chest infection ,I wasn't this breathless when I had PE had chest x-ray nothing nasty just a lot of scaring so obviously lung area reduced my sats are fine always abouve 90% so no need for O2 and use inhalers as prescribed no problems moving mucos so not really sure which direction to go in,,!

Glad you’ve seen doc. Sorry that the antibiotics and steroids haven’t sorted it. Again I’d say go back to docs if still struggling.

Will do again see what they come up with thank you for your reply

Put a specimen in to check yr on correct antibiotic.if u can get nurse or gp to listen to yr lungs,so they can advice u.Exacerbations come in many varied forms+ not unusual for symptoms to deteriorate quickly.

Do u smoke? If so,do stop.avoid viruses like colds,flu,rsv,covid

Hi Mali, I have had a bad winter with non infection flare ups. I am now very limited with severe breathlessness at the slightest exertion. My GP is aware and feels that it is a deterioration of my emphysema as there is now no sign of any infection or inflammation. I think that you should see your doctor again to see if there is any underlying cause for your problems such as lingering infection.

Hi much the same as my GP said just a deterioration if my emphysema/ COPD but I just couldn't understand how quickly things changed travelled on my own handled luggage up and over train platforms from Wales to Manchester no problem at all went to restaurant walk around etc no sign of anything then as I said ended up in ED next morning! Hotel staff were wonderful brilliant couldn't fault them at all already had accessible room as other health issues and they had my son's contact details couldn't praise them enough , time for further GP visit I think thank you for replying

Good morning Mali12 maybe you got a infection as I suffer from bronchiectasis and got a cough again I found out I got bronchiectasis when I was coughing a lot and having chest infections. When hospital had ct scan and showed up. My dad as copd and he gets out of breath easily now and only as to walk a few steps and as to stop. I read that if you got copd you can get bronchiectasis allso. Maybe you need to phone your doctors. All the best let us know how you get on x

This is exactly what happened to my hubby. Was working full time up to jan 2020. Couldn’t breathe one morning and ended up in the back of an ambulance with double pneumonia. Not worked since lung capacity 31%

Begining to see from replies getting not the only one who's been like this my GP did say on one of the visits as I'd not responded to the first two weeks of rescue meds I might have pneumonia have seen it many times in patients but because I felt so I'll wasn't thinking straight but as time goes on looking back think it was this that developed after the initial exacerbation. Definitely time for phone call to GP, thank you for your reply

So do I ! Know full well won't be how I was prior to going away but this is so frustrating and wearing me out! Then I end up getting cross because I can't do something I've learnt to pace myself and doing things as have degenerative disc disease in C1-5 diabetes and thrombopilia but getting more and more frustrated!
