Exsaserbation

I only realised last night I am problems having an exsaserbation .Ten days ago I started with sore dry throat, soreness has gone ,but still speaking with horse voice ,by last night my breathing got really bad ,more coughing atight chest ,still a horse deep voice which Ive realised was coming more from my chest I came down stairs took four puffs of ventilin, and two Doxycycline (that is the starting dose),I also took four prednisalone, this is because I can't cope with the six usual dose of prednisalone, and four this morning ,trouble is I don't know weather or not to carry on with doxycycline as although I am coughing up more mucus it is very clear looking ,doesn't look like infection,my chest does hurt a little though ,I'm confused with exsaserbations and chest infections, would it be a good idea to take antibiotics with the prednisalone, I have appointment to be assessed for oxygen tomorrow I can't see that happening

Once started a course of antibiotics should be completed Alice. You do need to contact the nurse doing the oxygen assessment tomorrow as soon as possible, it will very likely need to be rescheduled now as steroids affect the assessment.

Not surprising after yesterday Alice as well as having covid. Get plenty of rest and do as little as possible. Hope your daughter can help out if needed. xx

Hi Alice, as I was reading your initial post I thought you sound just like me with covid last month. I produced gallons of clear mucus. I had a course of amoxicillin but after a few days was put on doxycycline and within 24 hours started to feel better. I still have a raspy voice! Hopefully in a couple of days you will feel so much better.
