I am in my second week of recovery after a week or so with COVID. I am struggling to get rid of the cough so have now reported to my emergency pack of prednisolone and antibiotics to see if that might help. I have no shortness of breath is just the coughing is exhausting.
Anyone have any tips to help this cough on its way. I usually get at least 1 chest infection a year anyway but this just isn't moving. I am a runner and am fit and healthy most of the time (apart from menopause!)
Thanks
Alison

I very much doubt if your rescue pack will be much use to you in shifting that cough as they are purely designed for treating bacterial infections and unfortunately others on here who have suffered Covid bear witness to the fact that one of the last things to go on recovery from Covid is that irritating cough and also two weeks post covid is a very short space of time to expect a full recovery.Sorry if i convey doom and gloom and perhaps the steroids may ease any inflamed airways and relieve that cough a little.
The antibiotics in your rescue pack are for bacterial infection usually identified by increased production of darker green/brown mucous accompanied by a higher temperature.
Only take the ABs after an 'emergency' appointment with your GP (maybe telephone).
S/He may ask for a lab sample to ensure which AB is suitable (or even needed) for your symptoms/infection.
Why? Because if you take them randomly they won't work when you do NEED them.
The prednisolone may help clear your lungs if the cough is caused by inflammation, usually identified by increased mucous production without significant change in usual colour (white/pale yellow/pale green).
