Breathless and wheezy

Hi everyone, I am looking for some advice for my husband who is nearly 89 and was diagnosed with emphysomatic fibrosis about two years ago. He has not been too bad until 6 months ago when when he started getting more breathless and wheezy. The Salamol inhaler doesn’t help at all, the Bradosyl helps somewhat. Sorry to say but the nurse at the surgery who does a telephone check once a year is not much help. Has anyone any advice. The surgery only seems to want to conduct telephone sonsultations.

If your husband has a respritory nurse then speak to either her or your GP, and let th know your concerns. Hope this helps me have a good both of you and take care of😊 Bernadette and Jack 🐕 xxxxxx

You really need to contact your GP surgery about your husband's problems and explain the difficulties he is having. A telephone consultation is better than non and may lead to a face to face appointment.

Hello and welcome.Is hubby using a spacer or aerochamber with his salamol? If not,do request one as it helps more of the drug gets in.has his technique been checked - it is important.

You should tell dr/nurse it doesnt seem to help,at that dosage.

I find writing bullet pts, ensures all yr queries get discussed.

A spacer sounds a very good idea.

Or failing that Ventolin rather than Salamol.

Thank you Alberta 56, he has started using a spacer now and Ventolin would be better, I read that ventolin has a better propellant .

I would definitely advise you to forget all about the gp and the nurse. At nearly 89 years of age and with difficulties I strongly recommend a visit to your nearest hospital without delay.

If he is using a spacer. He wants to suck in as slowly and as long as possible so the drug gets right down to the bottom of his lungs to help completely. I had a lung function Check up today and was shown the technique to use. Hope he feels better soon Brian

Goodday. Like me as of now I suffer difficulties in breathing, let him used Seretide Inhaler, Combivent nebule a higher milligrams of Montelukast tablet.

Thank you , we will see what the respiratory nurse says when he gets to talk to her. He has good days and bad days as I suppose we all have.
