Mucous removal breathing devices and enlarged heart.

Been asked to show a neighbour how to use a flutter device to clear phlegm willing to do this. Also have a spare that she can have. However, said neighbour has just been diagnosed with an enlarged heart so wonder if this would be OK for her to use?

I think that she needs advice from her cardiologist first.

Yes. That is what we thought but she hasn't seen a cardiologist yet just the GP. thankfully she is seeing the GP this afternoon so can ask her then.

Hi desanthony, so sorry to hear about your neighbours illnesses and I hope the appointment with her doctor was helpful. Is she on carbocisteine? Has she tried chest tapping, just gently as that can help remove mucus, especially if someone could do the same to her back? I wish her well.

Haven't asked her yet as her appointment was at 7pm last evening! but hoping something is going to help - thing is heart problems can also cause this so wanted her to make sure with her GP that she could use these as they can cause heart problems to become worse. I'm going to drop her a message later this morning

I have an enlarged heart and have used a green acapella for many years, I have never heard of any concerns.

That's good to know. I was just wary of letting my neighbour use this when she is in the process of undergoing diagnosis for her heart problem in case of harm. However, she has seen her GP who has OK'd it and she has a blood test again this week and a referral to the cardiologist - the result of the blood test will ascertain whehther or not the referral is urgent.
