Stroke update…

Mrbojangles profile image
26 Replies

Transferred from Harefield following stent fitting and mild stroke to Mount Vernon North London ( Boris constituency ) for a few weeks of rehab.

Half vision still and both left leg and arm much weaker.

Amazing staff here who push you to regain both muscle strength and confidence.

Finally i must apologise to those of you who hold Guinness shares… they will recover as soon as soon as i’m freed.

Stay safe…👍👍

Nice to hear from you Mrbojangles . Good to see that although you have some residual left side weakness your sense of humour is still going strong.

All the best with your rehab. I know from a friend who had quite a major stroke a couple of years ago that rehab can work wonders in all manner of unexpected ways.

Go for it!

We decided to liquidate our shares on hearing your news, the stock market was tough and we still have the headache. On a more serious note,as your brain re routes those messages where possible your physio and movement of the affected limbs will reap rewards in the months to come you never thought possible.

Best wishes with your recovery.

Hi MrB, well, just when I was needing extra pennies for the heating, the Guinness shares slumped! Seriously!!

I’m glad you’re getting good care and being looked after. I hope you will soon have those strong 💪 muscles again! I can imagine it could give your confidence a bit of a knock so I’m glad those physios are helping you with that too!

Keep going MrB! The Guinness business needs you!

Great to hear from you Mr.B! Glad they have moved you to where you will get in house rehab, give it all you can and you will soon be knocking back the black stuff! Meanwhile, my daughter is back from 3yrs in Australia, and is doing her very best to keep the shares on an even keel for my not being able to. I am sure if I asked her to work a bit harder at it, she would be more than happy to do the job for both of us ;) That's my girl!! You keep smiling Mr.B. and keep us up to date :) xx

Nice to hear from you Mr B Small progressions and long may you continue to get better and regain more vision and movement. My brother in law took a while to recover from his stroke. Love your sense of humour regarding Guiness xx

What a journey you have been through and are still on. Keep going and think of that pint of 🍺(sorry - no darker emoji available) waiting for you at the finish line. No words of wisdom but it sounds like you have enough tenacity without any platitudes from me.I hope it gets easier

Best wishes

Keep pushing, keep progressing. I managed to get back a lot of function in my lower right leg, over four years after the initial injury that starved the muscles and nerves of oxygen. At first it seems so slow, but each little gain is so worth it, and can lead to more. The power of the will over the mind and body can make such a difference.

Hope the rehab goes well for you. The progress will happen, just don’t expect overnight miracles. Re the black stuff - no smugglers in your family? Not in the same league as stroke but nearly a year ago I dislocated and broke my shoulder and and only recently has it got almost back to normal but it became copable with much more quickly.

Hi Mrbojangles it's good to hear that you're feeling a bit better and getting the help you need. An old boyfriend of mine, we're going back to the 60's, was given Guinness in hospital to build him up after an illness, so maybe you should ask them to prescribe it, tell them you have a responsibility to the shareholders 🤗😊sorry can't find a glass of anything!! Keep smiling and work hard and God bless xxx

If one of your rehabbers is in bottle green trousers and white tunic top, he/she is one of my lot. We can be quite useful, if irritating (or maybe that was only me). All the best.
