I had a vaccine immunity test which test the level of my immune response to covid 19 vaccine (Astra Zeneca) my level was 422 ul/ml is this good ?
The result confirmed that I had generated antibodies but doesn’t indicate if this is a high enough response. Has anyone else had this test or have insight to my result?
Thanks guys

Hi from my understanding there is no magic number. The important point is you have generated antibodies. There is a belief that higher numbers generate a greater protection but the results of some studies suggest it is more subtle than that with other factors involved. Lower numbers do not mean you would not mount a good response nor do higher numbers mean a better response. I am not an expert by any means but immunity and response is a complex subject. You have generated antibodies which means that if there are lower numbers of one type of antibody and they fall which they will after vaccination it does not mean your memory t cells will not respond to protect you from an infection at a later time.
Hey Yeah I had read a similar article. It just would have been nice to gauge where my levels were. If they are some what low or high giving a number and no indication to what that number means is very cheeky!
Thanks for the reply
There are currently no established thresholds for what is a ‘good’ response. A positive response is considered to be anything from 5ul/ml through to 2500+, and the assumption is that the higher the number, the better the protection, but it could be that - for example - anything over 10 is enough to prevent death and severe illness, we just don’t know. There are a number of studies in progress to see if they can establish a threshold, but for the time being, the Roche assay, which is currently the only antibody test that gives a value, isn’t any more useful than the other antibody tests that just say yes or no to having developed an immune response.
From what I read you can get tested to see if you ever had covid and have antibodies. I am curious to know what my natural state is and if I’ve ever had covid before covid was a thing. Also maybe if the vaccinated people I spend time around have passed on any immunity to me or maybe because of my blood type. I’m very curious.
Yes iv had that test two and I was negative. I did it last year and this year. This lab also offers that test as well. They’re called monitor my Health. I went with them as they’re Nhs and I think they are using the results to see what is happening regarding antibodies. Give them a try maybe.
