Hi steveloki only go as far as you feel comfortable please don't try and over do things. Take things steady and build up gradually. Just eat healthy and drink plenty. Have a good day and take care 😊 Bernadette and Jack 🐕 xxxxxx

Thank you, some say it doesn’t hurt to go past breathless, and some say don’t do that , I’m a full time carer for my disabled fiancé so need to stay ok for her .

Don’t know where you from but if you can access a pulmonary rehab course you would find that helpful. Is a 2hr course twice a week for a number of weeks. 1st hour is exercise and 2nd hour is education. All this is done with specialist physios. They would look at individual exercise program with you. You learn the Borg system of breathlessness in that yes some breathlessness when exercising is entirely normal and shows exercise is being productive. But also when you are becoming too breathless and should stop.

Ask your gp to refer you for the classes.

Hi steveloki. Your body will soon let you know when you have pushed yourself to your limit. Rest and recover your breathing before continuing. The more you that you do the more that you can do. It does work, as your muscles acclimatise to the lower levels of available oxygen.

As for food, the link below uses the identical information as given in my Respiratory Rehabilitation classes, you will be doing yourself a favour to get your doctor to refer you to those classes.

Eat small portions but often, a bloated stomach from eating to much can restrict your breathing.

Hi steveloki. I second the above posts, the Pulmonary Rehab classes are excellent. Do ask your GP to refer you to one. Good luck with the exercises 👍

I was taught in pulmonary rehab that during exercise you should still be able to say 'Hello my name is . . . ' I think the idea is that a small amount of exercise in a safe environment is ok.
