For Those who signed the Petition ; Keep the legal requirement to wear a face covering in shops & supermarkets after July 19th

There is a reply to this petition quoting what is already in place (ie face masks are optional but encourage the population to continue using face coverings etc). It would be wonderful if everyone opted to continue taking precautions but not everyone will.

Currently the petition has 12,959 signatures. The petition will run until 9th January 2022, It needs 100,000 signatures to be debated in parliament.

.............................................................................

If you prefer mask wearing was made a legal requirement for everyone to wear face coverings in supermarkets and shops do sign the petition here:

Even if we do not intend to go into shops or supermarkets now or during winter months, I feel sure this action by the voice of the people will help protect everyone's lungs in the short /long term and really slow the progress of the virus spreading and infecting even more people, thus reducing the risk for all concerned and avoiding the need for a further potential lockdown.

.........

Please feel free to re post the petition link in social media and pass this on to family and friends if its likely they are in agreement regarding this petition.

Thank you

Keep well and Safe

My daughter went to the small local supermarket, all the staff wore masks as did my daughter, but others didn’t.But she was given ‘ a dead eye ‘ look by one customer.

in reply toknitter

Hopefully the dead eye looks won't deter your daughter. Helping to keep your daughter and all she is in contact with safe as possible. Well done your daughter.

Went into town yesterday. Happily hairdressers insisting on masks and bank and the 3 shops I visited requesting them. Nearly everyone obliging, including out in the street.

Its good this is happening in your area Alberta. I was in a small local supermarket briefly the other day, most were mask wearing, I didn't hang about there was a 5 year old with a real bronchial cough of course exempt from mask wearing, but non the less coughing like a good un. The risk is so high for the spread but if all adults did wear masks this would most certainly help.

Maybe it would be a good idea to change your “I’m exempt” picture. Just a thought! 😊

in reply to

Purely responding (in the main) to people who fully understand, being exempt doesn't mean you can't wear a mask or support the above petition :)

in reply to

Oh I see. But I’ve never seen someone with a mask wearing an “I’m exempt” badge so it gives the impression you don’t wear one yourself 🤷‍♀️

Not for personal discussion please refer to the original post for understanding what this post is about.

That is, the post is not in any way related to your opinion of my current avatar.

I'm actually quite encouraged by the number of people still wearing masks, many of whom don't look particularly vulnerable (though I appreciate it's not easy to tell!). This is even more surprising since virtually none of my local supermarket staff now wears one, but almost all their customers do!

We went to the Savill Garden yesterday, and they were encouraging mask wearing inside and most people were doing so, even though it's a very well ventilated space. All the staff were wearing, and they were still adopting COVID precautions (table service, etc, which meant that we had to get a snack from the kiosk and be surrounded by wasps, but I guess that's a small price to pay to avoid infection!).

Hello Bkin. So glad to see you back. I signed the petition and continue to wear a mask in enclosed spaces, as well as use oxygen. I could be exempt as it does make me more breathless but I tolerate that in shops by walking slower. If someone glared at me they would receive an appropriate response.

There have been occasions where I was so breathless I did have to take the mask off. Because I use oxygen no one challenged me.

in reply toDavegt

We do what we can Dave, I usually do not linger if inside anywhere one of the reasons being I can't keep the mask on too long. Thanks for welcome back Dave its appreciated and many thanks for signing the petition. Every signature helps :)

Most of the time now I am used to doing food shopping on-line to avoid the shops. Obviously I need to go in places some time but keep it short. Shielding has turned me into a recluse. I have just been offered a rehab course but I have elected to do that from home. Anyway good to see you back. 🤗

in reply toDavegt

I'm the same Dave, still get my main bulk of food shopping delivered. This pandemic has caused all sorts of issues for people. Its a shame we cannot feel safe enough to attend things like PR in person at the hospital, but I fully understand it is a risk, but I am glad you are able to do the course on line in the safety of your own home.

I am not sure I will be back as frequently as I once was Dave, it was mainly to update on the situation with the petition for those interested.

Thank you so much for your friendly replies and support.

Thanks again Dave, hope all went well with your zoom PR, I've been wondering how that went for you?

Good morning Bkin. I went along to Church Hall to be assessed for doing rehab exercises and the log sheets and details of exercises were posted to me. I have started doing the exercises and had a normal phone call last Monday and again today (because of Bank Holiday) to see how I am getting on. One of the exercises, getting up and down from a chair without using arms, made my knees hurt a bit but no pain no gain. It was worth enlisting so I will keep at it. Hope you are keeping OK. Take care

😀

in reply toDavegt

That sounds great Dave, I think you will find the knees will start to improve with repetition, just go at your own pace and do same or one more each day as you feel ok to do. Well done for going through with it. I did find once when I had deconditioned the knees started to stiffen up, doing a few steps helped get them moving again too.

I am doing ok thanks for asking, back to trying to increase my fitness level and reduce consumption of the naughty stuff :D

Keep up the good work

💪
