We are aware about the announcement last week that face coverings will be mandatory on public transport in England from 15 June. Understandably, we’ve had many questions about how this might affect people with lung conditions.
The government and Transport for London have said that people with breathing problems will be exempt from wearing a covering when this rule comes in. This means the advice on our website remains the same. If you feel comfortable in wearing a face covering, then please do so. If you find a face covering makes it harder for you to breathe, then don’t wear one.
Lots of you have asked how you’d show that you have difficulty breathing if asked why you’re not wearing a face covering by a bus driver, ticket inspector or fellow passenger. We will be looking at writing to the transport department to raise these issues and ask about their plans around enforcement and exemptions.
I will post any further updates
Thanks

The statement released is from the government and Transport for London, we will be seeking advice from the Transport department which covers all areas.
Many thanks for persuing this matter on our behalf. 🐿🌈
This would help as I find it difficult to breathe whilst wearing a face mask. I sure I will be fine with the local drivers. Live in a village. However it will be more difficult when I go into towns. In lockdown at moment so that will not happen for some time.
I am grateful for any information you are able to give.
