At 3.30am got whipped into hospital after collapsing on my way to the loo , I woke up looking at a lovely view of the sea . Wondering what and where I was the doctor explained I had been rushed in unconscious and going purple . I'm now back home and feeling drained and tired but ok , apparently my oxygen levels dropped off the chart and the seizures are being caused by lesions on the brain through constant attacks of Oxygen depravation . Now got to go every where with my oxygen tank just incase . Having a coffee then going to try and get a nap .

The view from my second home
Sorry to hear that Davey. I must apologise as I read your 2nd email first ๐Hoping things improve for you now with the oxygen. Take care xxx
So do I it isn't nice waking up in a place unfamiliar when the last thing you remember is being at home. ๐๐๐
Ha ha I did too sassy and was going to reply something like lucky you to have a second home. ๐คฃ๐คฃ x
Weโre as bad as each other Bev! ๐๐๐xx
Separated at birth? Ha ha.
Indeedโฆโฆ.๐๐โค๏ธ
Me too! Started at the top & working down.Davey, crumbs what a shock for you. Good job you have someone there to watch over you. Take care of yourself. Peege
(I've sailed many of the Greek Islands in Agean & Ionian but not Rhodes...one day perhaps)
It's a lovely island no doubt about it . Well worth the visit
You guys must be joined at the hip ๐๐๐ bit of a basic second home admitted but a good doer upper ๐๐๐ plenty of spare rooms and complete with beds and even have chamber maids ๐๐๐
Argh you can't say 'chambermaids' now. It's room attendants. ๐๐คฃ
๐๐ I forgot to be politically correct ๐๐
๐๐๐คฃ๐คฃ Naughty boy! x
Please forgive me I've had a very trying night ๐๐๐๐
Oh, all right then but only coz you have a car park to look at ๐คฃ๐คฃ
Hope you feel better very soon and can return to your first home. xx
I'm back to home number one and going for a siesta so drained of energy and thanks for the forgiveness it's appreciated ๐๐๐
What a bummer. Hope you don't get a repeat of this episode. Praying for rain. xxx
Hopefully I shouldn't be ok time will tell I guess . ๐ค๐ค๐ค
Oh dear but you know why now and you ve got help with the oxygen , i hope that oxygen is the answer. Take care.
Will do thanks ๐๐๐
Not a pleasant experience Davey but so lucky you were found and given prompt treatment. Hopefully the use of oxygen will prevent further episodes. Is your oxygen use regularly monitored? I know nothing of how that side of things works in Greece. I was surprised to learn that your seizures are due to brain lesions caused by oxygen deprivation if you have previously been prescribed oxygen. I hope that you don't have any more life threatening episodes.
As I had pointed out today it's going to be an episode like this that will be my last . And unlike the UK hardly anything gets monitored
It's very worrying , I mean last year I was having a big problem with blacking out averaging between fifteen to twenty a day sometimes more but I was actually unconscious for an hour at a time . The pulmonologist was trying different medication to try and get things under control . That's when the damage was caused . Being without any medication for three years was the main cause of the whole kit and kabudal . I won't lie and say I'm not scared because I am but I'm trying to deal with it the best way I can .
Take care and stay safe ๐๐
Have you got an oximeter to monitor your blood oxygen levels?
If I want one I have to buy one and here they aren't cheap ๐ like I said before the problem isn't having what you need it's available but everything as a price tag on it โบ๏ธ
I bought mine for about ยฃ30 but there are far more expensive ones. They aren't available on prescription here. Batteries last ages and the readings are comparable to the one my nurse uses. I have ambulatory oxygen and short burst oxygen and without it I'd have no idea whether my blood oxygen levels were at a safe level or not. Your use of oxygen would be safer if you could get a reasonably priced one and check with your pulmonary consultant what level he would like you to maintain. Just a thought Davey. I appreciate that life there isn't easy from a medical point of view.
I'm having a consultation with the pulmonologist on Thursday so I'm going to ask her about this I'm writing all this down so I don't forget ๐ do tend to forget things a lot these days ๐๐ once again thanks for your advice . ๐ Always appreciated
If I don't write things down it either doesn't get done or said when having a doctors consult.Try and have a good long discussion on Thursday. Maintaining oxygen levels that are right for you is so important. Too much is just as dangerous as too little and she surely knows that.
You need to know when you are using oxygen all the time how many litres a minute is right for you and it should be regularly monitored and reviewed.
It's often said here that we have to stand up for ourselves to get the care we need. The same may or may not apply there but don't be fobbed of, it's your health at stake.
Good luck and let us know how you get on.
Odometer or a smart watch that can check 02
Wow! Scary experience. I bet when you woke and saw that lovely blue sea you thought for a minute you'd already passed over! At least there's no one sitting on a cloud with a harp!
I can't imagine what it must have felt like but at least it was a decent view!
Hope you are feeling better today and the oxygen is helping. xx Moy
All seems good today thanks , with the heat I honestly thought I had gone the other direction ๐ ๐๐ but yes definitely a lovely view better than most UK hospital I suppose
Lucky they got you to hospital quickly. Hope this will be alleviated by having oxygen with you constantly.
Oh yes , it scared the hell out me . You can put up with different pains but when you can't breath it's a whole new ball game ๐๐
Oh no! I hope youโre feeling better now. When I saw the first picture I thought that was the view from your house. You look after yourself.
No view from my second home the hospital ๐๐ from home number one I have views of two mountain's one in front and one to my left oh and one behind with a large cross on the top but the houses behind block the view of that ๐๐
Oh thatโs a shame. Could you not tell them to move the houses!๐๐คฃ๐
The beach is only a ten minute walk away from my house well for someone who doesn't have breathing problems anyway ๐ if I walked it like last time I went it took me an hour and a half with Many stops on the way ๐๐
Rest up xxx
I wish I could , but nappies need changing and I won't leave my stepfather in a wet nappy , I know some care workers here will only change a nappy twice a day regardless what is in it . I will point out there are no Greek care workers there usually Albanian , polish or Rumania the Greeks tend to look after their own family members. ๐
He must be happy to have you.perhaps do yr duties then have a siesta.yr right to change them as skin can soon break down.but, care for yourself too xx
Half the time he spends mouthing off about something or other but that's the dementia so ignore it . And I try to have some me time , especially at night I sit outside and look at the stars .
Oh dear.youve got yrs hands full.dont do more than u have to,u need your rest after such a bad do last night.u must be exhausted.i really feel 4 you.take care xxxxxx
Just popped in to check on him he's watching war films on his TV got him three memory sticks full of them he loves old war films . I'm now back on my perch looking at the stars , sounds like a jungle at night with the chika bugs chirping it's lovely . Just noticed on bbc site covid cases were dropping now sneaking up again . Not good so keep safe ๐๐ท
U cant beat it,summer sky and sounds of nature.its pouring down here in Lancashire! X
My โค๏ธ goes out to you at least it's good for ducks and gardens ๐คฃ
Haha..every true Davey!!All the best at yr appointment today xx
All done and dusted none good apart from regular checks every week . When life throws you lemons squirt it in politicians eyes. ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ Life ticks on at the moment just take each day as it comes ๐
It's the same in Spain, family members are relied on to do the day to day care. My daughter lives on Kos so she has had experience of this in Greece too.
It's the lay of the land so you just get on with it โบ๏ธ๐
Thatโs so sad. My Dad had dementia but he always knew his three Daughters. None of us know whatโs ahead of us.
Sorry to hear you have had a bad drop in oxygen. You will need to use it more permenant now but hopefully it will keep you at home number one more. Best wishes ,take care and try to stay safe.
Oh I try and keep far away from people as possible without isolating myself from friends .
Hi! I ordered an oximeter for ยฃ3 from aliexpress.com. They deliver pretty much all over the world. Maybe there is even an aliexpress.gr? Perhaps you want to try it. Love to you both!
Thank you I will have a look online but going to see neurologist, cardiologist and pulmonologist tomorrow all three together in one hit thought I was seeing them at Different times but been informed this afternoon it's a joint venture I'm to take all my scans bloods results spirometry readings x-rays everything with me I have a large bag which holds all my medical stuff in so long day for me I think ๐๐
All 3 at the same time for VIP-Davey! ๐ ๐
Ask them for everything you need incl. an oximeter! A free professional one cannot harm!๐ช
Best of luck for tomorrow! We will all be thinking of you! ๐ค ๐
Thanks I'll be keeping everything crossed well mentally anyway if I did it literally they might commit me for being an English weirdo . Hopefully gent some help from them
No, open up! ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ค
Everything was explained in full today so going to digest it all . I do get checked out every week at a clinic in our village so not complaining one bit .๐ Melting at moment high40s ๐ฅต๐ฅต๐ฅต๐ ๐
Good stuff! Did you get your oximeter?
Seriously? High 40ies? That is Celsius/Centigrade and in the shade?? ๐ฎ
Well, keep cool then.. in all directions! ๐
Do they speak a brilliant English or is your Greek that good?
The neurologist was English Greek Greek parents but was born in UK and only been back her past five years . He's brilliant he explained everything the pulmonologist and cardiologist said , basically I don't have to buy anything as my BP sugar levels and O2 levels will all be checked every week and once a month I will get a full MRI scan . Lesions on both my brain and heart caused by hypoxia attacks two years ago but not dealt with at the time . Basically I have to live with the seizures and have to have someone with me if I'm out not allowed to drive in any description . Got all night under the stars to absorb everything.
Wow. Well at least they are spending some money on you at last! I saw your new post as well now. Do all these specialists live on Rhodes or do they travel to get to you?
They live on the island all private but do some work for the hospital . The neurologist actually works from euromedica . And he's English Greek . In the village we have hematologists aswell all have their own practices radiology department at hospital hardly gets used I go to a special clinic that cover CT scans MRI scans x-rays and also ultra sound scans all cost 70euros except MRI full body is 190 Euro you get print outs of all scans and a hard copy on disk to take with you .
Sounds posh! But you don't have to pay for all that?? ๐ง
Hell yeah I've spent all my back pay from ESA to cover all my scans and stuff bloods work costs fourty euros a pop . For me to see the orthopedic doctor for my four annular tears three herniated discs and all seven discs are also compressed will cost me 800euros for the consultation I can't have surgery because my lungs I wouldn't get out of Anaesthesia so he would send me for a tailor made Orthopedic support better than one I have . You get nothing for nothing ๐๐๐
Oh dear! Is your stepdad greek? You have no chance to relocate to England or at least fight for an upgrade in ESA? At the end it was the DWP who got you in this mess!?
No step dad is English but refuses to return to the UK . And yes the dwp decided to listen to lies from my ex wife to the medical facts Infront of them and their own jobcentre sanctioned my visit here . Bloody ridiculous . Now sat waiting for my reply to pip who have completed everything apparently according to the last call I had ๐๐
Well then best of luck! Hope that will be helping more or less sufficiently! ๐
Question now how much do you pay for the calls?? They don't mail, do they?
40 plus in centigrade ๐ฅต๐ฅต๐ฅต๐ฅต
That must have been a very unpleasant and frightening experience Davey. I hope things improve for you. Take care. ๐
Thank you , it may seem funny but I have got used to getting nasty surprises. But the flower is Beautiful thank you
I hope you start feeling a little brighter soon. X๐
Big supportive virtual ((((hugs))))
