Carbocisteine and balance

Hello again- have now been on 4 carbocisteine tablets daily for couple months and my severe disabling cough is so much better gratefully . But my balance problem has come back over last few days making me feel very insecure. Am thinking - am I drinking enough and has my sugar level dropped or is it just me and

Hi Nancy217. Balance problems are a nightmare. I have Menieres Disease so have dealt with disabling vertigo attacks a lot. These days, I no longer seem to have those but instead I fall backwards spontaneously as though I've been mugged! Fortunately, it only happens every few weeks or so and, luckily, most times I've been seated.

It's taken me a long time to regain my confidence for going out and about on my own but I'm doing it again now. I'm working on the balance of probabilities ie I am less likely to fall than I am to fall. If I do fall, someone will help me (I hope!) and, if I'm lucky, I won't have hurt myself too much.

I don't know what the reason for your balance problem may be, but, as I say, I know all about losing confidence and feeling insecure.

This hot weather may well be to blame and it is really important to keep hydrated. If you have problems with your sugar levels, perhaps it would be worth having a chat with your GP or nurse.

I take 6 carbosisteine a day and have found them really helpful. I haven't noticed any change in my balance since taking them, but of course we are all different.

I hope you manage to get to the bottom of what's going on. We have enough to cope with without the 'wobbble' as well! xx Moy

Hi I'm on the same Carbocistiene tablets been on them over 12 months now You can take upto 6 per day but I take 2 in the morning one at night I have found that since I have been on the I can clear my lungs far easier.

Hi Jasper. I just wanted to say after reading your post I feel happier about taking Carbocistein that my consultant has just recommended. It was a telephone consultation as he’s got covid. Been trying to see him face to face for 3 years! Oh well…🙄
