I am not sure about my medical condition but I wanted to know that sometimes I cough phlegm ball and strings. They are initially colourless but with time they become yellow. During this period I also become breathless often. Sometimes I cough for abut ten to twenty minutes to get rid of these but they are super sticky and don't easily move out. I am facing this problem for 3 years now and after a lot of medication, this situation persists. Any advice how to get rid of these.

You need to talk again with the respiratory team or directly with your doctor about this ongoing situation.
What is your current diagnosis and medications?
R u in the UK or overseas?
The answers to these questions will help others to understand and offer some more relevant suggestions.
Hi and welcome, I agree you really do need to speak to your respritory team and GP, explain what is happening and is there anything you can take or do to help it. Please let us know how you get on and keep posting. Have a good day and take care 😊 Bernadette and Jack 🐕 xxxxxx
You really should see your doctor about this problem. It is indicative of you possibly having a lung condition that causes this. The problem with thick sticky mucus is that it can get trapped deep in the lungs and bacteria can thrive in it progressing to a chest infection, as indicated by the change in colour. Multiple chest infections can lead to Pulmonary Fibrosis commonly known as Lung Scarring. There are medications available on prescription to help thin the mucus enabling it to be expelled more easily. Drinking plenty of water also helps. Please see your doctor so that this can be explored properly just in case you have a more serious underlying problem.
Hi Sandydnd, Definitely sounds like something going on if it's an ongoing problem, hopefully it can be remedied by speaking to your consultant or doctor about mucus build up and medication what works for you ,exploratory scan etc.
It’s strange you should mention that as in 2020 before we heard of corona virus I had the terrible virus and described it as couching lengths of sticky string which was so strong I could pull it out of my mouth a good 3 inches and it wouldn’t break. I reported it to the docs. secretary but no one was interested. My lungs were bad and choked, I now take a steroid inhaler etc. But I still think that virus was weird . Do get help, there is so much good advice on here X
Hi not sure if you have been diagnosed with a lung condition you could have a chest infection and may need a scan and antibiotics you really need to speak to the GP and respiratory nurses. I have this chronic condition with my phlegm always sticky and green or yellow colour it seems to be a normal colour for me it doesn't always mean l have an infection but when l feel unwell l do a sputum test before l take a course of antibiotics Hope you get it sorted when you talk to the medics Good luck
