Yes it is! I contracted it years ago when I was expecting my second child! I couldn't have meds because of the pregnancy and on top of that when he was born they gave me the rubella vaccine because I had never had German measles which I had the symptoms of - god, I thought I was going to leave the hospital in a pine box!😯 My poor Gran used to get it every winter as she got older, it's so painful as you say!

I have had pleurisy on a number of occasions. Sadly I must agree that it is a very painful condition. From my own experience I found that rest and time is the only cure. Pain killers and a gentle heat on the effected area helps but it can take time to resolve.

Hi, I have had pleurisy, and it is very painful, especially when taking deep breaths, and bending down to pick up an object. The condition affects the layer between the lung and rib cage. Hope this helps.

Hi susandewbery- yes I can vouch for pleurisy being very painful and taking a long time to resolve. Painkillers, a hot water bottle and a pillow were my way to cope -plus lots of rest . Hope you are feeling better soon xx Anita
