I was asking only a few days ago how people got on with Seretide as I had just been prescribed it by my consultant.I was having a few little problems and wondered if others had experienced the same.
Well !! yesterday my little problems became quite serious so I rang the helpline who told me to go to my Doctor. My Doctor sent for an Ambulance and I spent the night in Hospital.
My breathing was eratic my blood presure was very high I had severe palpitations and my heart was racing. My Doctor suspected Angina or even a heart attack (I have never suffered with my heart before)
After numerous test and a calm environment ( as much as you can in hospital) The Hospital Doctor says it was a reaction to the inhaler and has told me to go back to the one I have been happy on for months. I really don't know why the consultant changed it anyway, I will ask him on my next visit.

I am feeling a bit better now, taking some time off work the Doc says it will take a few days to get the drug out of my system. I am really funny with drugs, the Symbicort did'nt agree with me either. xx
If my doctor or my consultant ever want to change my meds I always ask why. Good your feeling better. X
I don't use seretide but that is a very bad reaction to put you in hospital. So glad you rang the helpline and doctor. Some meds just don't suit everyone. Take good care and hope you are soon recovered.
I'm glad I rang too even though you have to wait for them to ring back. I am back to my Clenil now and hope that I will get back to the way I was before all this.
I am intolerant to many abs and inhalers too, including the above two. My consultant put me on Terbutaline (bronchodilator) and Ciclisonide (a steroid which apparently only activates once it hits the lungs). I'm fine with both. cx
It seems to be a common side affect, I also suffer from reflux which affects your throat also.
I am due for re-assement with the hospital in may so I will talk to the specialist then and see what he thinks as I have been on Seretide for seven year.
Hope you get on better with your change of script.
I have been on Seretide 250 for some years and have never had problems. Also it's good to take probiotics (good bugs) after antibiotics.Take a look on some of the healthy living sites. Be well Lola.
Crikey ! ptliverpool what a worrying night for you! So glad your feeling a bit better and it wasnt your heart.Definitely take it easy for a while. Janexx
Hi I was told in had asthma after tests following a bad chest infection. It was odd as I have never had breathing or coughing reactions before. I had a similar reaction to you last night from 6puffs of my ventolin. Scary and tiring as I only slept 3 hrs. Saw gp this morning. Prescribed steroid tablets and have an appointment with the asthma nurse trmrw. Is there a spray that doesn't cause these reactions? My clemil also also makes me cough so he said he may change that. I'm scared to use any now. I can't pinpoint any trigger patterns either. So odd. Myspirometer levels are highest in morning but lowest at night. Which he said isn't an asthma pattern. But had no time to explain. Any tips? PS still under 40yrs old. My dad has copd.
Just goes to show doesn't it we are all so different. I think it is unusual to get this reaction with ventolin. I'm still in the experimental stage so sorry no tips from me (Best on Clenil at the moment) Cofdrop seemed to be on something different though so maybe she will be along in a bit with some tips for you. we can only keep trying until we find meds that suit us it seems.
What a terrible reaction you had. I hope it's recorded by the doc, as you can't have this again.
I take Seretide Accuhaler 500. I used to take a double dose. The nurse told me that I should talk to the doctor about reducing it. This has happened. Only take it one puff twice a day, instead of 2 puffs twice a day. Feel fine with it. sorry about this horrid experience. Hope you get a happier time with ye old puffer!
Thanks for your concern. My husband says I am the old puffer.
I am a firm believer in not taking more medication than you absolutely have to. I started out with 2 puffs of my old inhaler twice daily but then found I am fine with 2 in the morning and 1 in the evening. I will ask if I can try and reduce the morning one next time I see someone who knows. Keep well PT x
Maybe you need to mention this next time you see your Doctor/resparotory nurse or consultant, they may give you something better. I am now on Serevia and up till now fewer problems than anything else. The consultant said that my Clenil was not good for my problems as it was designed for Asthma sufferers and I have not got Asthma. 3 weeks of Serevia and Salamol keeping my fingers crossed it does the trick.
