Sounds great!!! Let us know what you find out please
It's called a 'lavage' Toby, i.e., a good washout. My previous consultant did this a few times a year for me along with a bronchoscopy. The first time I felt unbelievably well after it but after that never noticed much difference. He did it to remove mucus plugs etc. the consultant I have now does one broncoscopy for diagnosis abd never does lavage.
I recently had a Bronchoscopy and lavage for Bronchiecstasis
It is a very weird experience
I felt very exhausted after the procedure for about a week then felt fantastic
I did not feel the usual toxic thing
I would have one every year if I had to
I have had it done a few times. The first time I never coughed for six weeks afterwards, it was amazing. But it never worked after that. M
Exactly the same as me Mo. the first time I had it done I was ringing my friend up and asking her to listen to me taking a deep breath. But every other time I felt no improvement.
I had a bronchial lavage 8 years ago when I had a horrid double pneumonia, tho was deeply sedated at the time so didn't know anything about it
It dies seem to occur quite frequently to folk on here so I assume it is quite a common treatment
Hi Tobydoo, I seem to recall that Tommy Cooper had that done once and was the better for it? Trouble was, he carried on smoking. I'll also ask my GP next visit, could be interesting! X
Brilliant I watched a transplant surgeon do this to a set of smokers lungs before transplanting she said they were just as good as non smokers lungs after circulating saline through them for 24 hrs this was couple of years ago I wondered then if it was possible to do same while in situ
