Perhaps you could ask your GP, sorry I can’t be of any more help.

Yes that was my next step. Cheers

Good suggestions from Oshgosh.

You could enquire with: health.harvard.edu/blog/no-...

As well, see what they say.

I would have thought you would be more at risk of not having the vaccine myself but then I am no medical professional, do check to see what the medical professionals advise in your case.

Best wishes

Thanks. I’m trying to find someone with no spleen who has had the Vaccine. I am due mine on Monday morning. At least it is taking place in the Hospital. So i can go through it with them I suppose.

Yes that could be why you are having it in the hospital but do chat with them if you've not had any further information from your doctor or contact with Harvard Ed department.

In the information (link below) a PDF leaflet about the covid vaccination it mentions:

Individuals will be offered with certain conditions..... it mentions;

" • a problem with your spleen, e.g sickle cell

disease, or having had your spleen removed "

Hi. Thanks for the info. I had a look at the leaflet. It seems pretty straightforward. And i will inform them on Monday of my lack of spleen just to highlight it. Many thanks.

Probably need the Vaccine card to get in some form of social gathering, Pubs ect, Or I’m missing this Govs signals . Or just a ploy to get the dithered to commit to taking it , Regardless.

Hi. I had my spleen removed over 20 years ago and had the Oxford vaccine 2 weeks ago. A few mild side effects for a couple of days but nothing out of the ordinary. Both my GP and oncology team said I should go ahead with the jab and not to be concerned. Hope this helps. Regards Geronimo

My daughter had her spleen removed twenty odd years ago and had her covid jab three weeks ago! She was advised to have it as she is on the at risk list. Absolutely no ill effects.

Hi James, My daughter has had her spleen removed and she had the Oxford vaccine about 4 weeks ago with no real complications other than a slightly sore arm and lymph nodes under her arms a little swollen. This only lasted for one day. She had the Oxford vaccine and is now awaiting her 2nd. one.
