I am fairly new here and Diagnosed with Bronchiestasis 4 years ago, but have had 3 infections in 3 months which I treated with my 2 week rescue pack each time, however I was so ill last week that I had to contact Dr who prescribed Prednisolone together with anti biotics, also went for x-ray on Friday and got a call yesterday saying I needed urgent scan and blood tests, which I am having done tomorrow.
Obviously I am concerned and was wondering if anyone has experienced this 🤗

. It is obvious things are not right if you keep having infections Samye. If the rescue pack isn't working its likely its not the right one to deal with your particular infection anyway. You need to provide a sample of the mucous you cough up and have it analysed to see what bacteria is present in your lungs. The appropriate antibiotic will then be prescribed to deal with the infection. It is good news you are having a scan as this will enable your consultant to see what is the cause of your problem is and will ensure you get the right treatment. Please let us know how you get on.
Hi RoadRunner 44, many thanks for your reply, I will let you know how it goes 🤞.
Yes a recurring lung infection or one that is not responding to treatment can lead to pneumonia and cause further lung damage so its good you are having a scan and blood tests done asap in order to help suggest correct action and course of treatment. Ask for sterile sputum sample pot if you don't already have one so you can provide a sample for testing.
Good luck and hope you are soon feeling much better.
Hi Bkin, Thanks for your reply, I always do sputum sample when I have infection, but I am never told I need to change antibiotics, I am hoping scan will just show scarring from so many infections 🤞🤞.
Hi Samye when I was first diagnosed they found that I was immune to amoxicillin so had my tablets altered a couple of times and I am now on ciprofloxacin. Good luck with the scan and bloods. Let us know how you get on x
Good to see you are having a scan so that they can see what’s causing it. I kept having recurring infections and a sputum sample showed it was resistant to the antibiotics which were changed to ciprofloxacin. The infection cleared up with them. Good luck with your appointment, I hope everything goes well for you 🤗
Ah thank you Patk1, I’ve got everything crossed, just hope I don’t have to wait too long for results, but I don’t think so considering the speed I got bloods and scan appt. 🤗
Hi samye I too kept getting infections and was like you sent for an urgent x-ray.The Dr then told me to pack in smoking! I have never smoked in my life ,he told me my results looked like chronic bronchitis ,however eventually it was chronic infections ,haemophilia, moraxella and pseudomonas ,My bronchiectasis is now under control but I have 3 different antibiotics in reserve until sputum results are back ,good luck 🙏
