vaccine has proved effective in UK trials. Thank you to all the volunteers who made these results possible.

Our medicines regulator will now assess the vaccine, which will be made in Teesside. If approved, we have 60m doses on order.

Just been reading this news. I have been talking part in the novavax trial. Have had 2 injections, either had vaccine or placebo. Had follow up appointment where blood taken to look for antibodies. Next appointment due very early March. However they have said if I'm offered a vaccine in the current UK rollout I have to contact them to have my data unblinded. They will let me know if I was given placebo saline, if it was then I go for vaccine being offered. It is a year long study but they told us that taking part, for however long, would help them accrue the data they need. So pleased to have had chance to take part. Hope it passes approval phase. Keep safe everyone and get vaccines when offered, I will still have a while to wait till I'm offered vaccine and find out what I have to do.

Well done Lemon and it appears likely that the very vaccine you have been trialing will be approved by the MHRA in the near future once the data is peer reviewed i imagine.?Yet another useful tool in the war chest to ward off this dreadful virus and being manufactured in the UK is simply the icing on the cake.

P.s i hope you have had the real thing and not the placebo and already have almost 90 % protection.?

Thanks ski's. Yes if I had novavax vaccine I might not need another. If placebo will hot foot it to get whatever vaccine I'm being offered. With mild copd and age 65 I still have while to wait. Keep safe and sound, take care of yourself and scruffs. 🐱😊

Thank you. It appears good against UK variant too. 15,000 people in UK took part. In south Africa, against their variant it is lower, 60% effective. However, the trial group in south Africa was smaller, 4,400. Novavax have also said it should be quicker for vaccine makers to adjust vaccines for newer variants that come along now. Hope that proves correct. As a certain supermarket says, every little helps.
