These fraudsters are getting so clever. My bank said they (the bank) was spending masses amounts of money to keep ahead of them. I get at least one call a day. Thanks for this latest information.

I’ve had HMRC , PayPal, Amazon etc emails HMRC phone call , report them all. They just change tactics all the time. I’ve had my bank card scammed twice ( from using cash machines) a few years ago which was a total nightmare . I’m usually pretty observant but honestly couldn’t say what was different about the machines. Money was spent in a foreign country. It is mind boggling how they get away with it. Xx

It is becoming a real pain the amount of fraud notifications in your inbox. You are never sure if it is true... or ... false information.

I just not respond to any such emails at all as if they are genuine I would probably get a phone call, but even that is not always valid.." hey the IRS , you owe us $200 and unless you pay soon we will take legal action.. I`m British you nutter!!!!!

in reply totomc

Love your response 💕💕

The banks will only address you by name, but if in doubt just log in to your account and check email notification that way. Must admit I am not having the problem at this time it could be that I only use on-line banking via my PC, nothing on my mobile phone.

No probs, they change all the time, so hard to keep up with them xx

My husband had two payments that he had not made so rang the bank number. Unfortunately his mobile had been hacked and we were connected direct to the fraudsters who very professionally scammed us out of some money before we checked with the bank. The bank are chasing it now and have managed to get some back so far. My advice would be to use a landline to call your bank if possible.

Good advice. So sorry about all that’s happened , these people are really good at what they do. It really is hard for decent people to keep safe xx

Online banking sadly will always pose a risk be it on a mobile or home desktop. After knowledge of an account being hacked and no recompense I only use telephone banking now from a landline.

in reply toComino2

Your perfectly right they appear to be getting into everything , they can ‘copy’ your banks phone no so their messages come through same as your bank does. It’s heartbreaking the amount of people who have been victims xx

Thanks for the warning! I've just been reading out your post and a few replies to my husband. He is not great at spotting fake emails or texts so a reminder is never a bad thing!

I must admit that some of the scams are so well done that it's easy to be taken in by them. My policy now is to trust nothing that comes by email or text until I've satisfied myself that it's ok.

I found this one scary. Fraudsters now are able to get directly into solicitors letters sent to house buyers and change the account details before forwarding it on. Large amounts of money then transferred to fraudsters. There is no redress as the payment has been authorised and now you have to sign saying you are aware that solicitors will not be held responsible. You still have to electronically transfer money as no cheques allowed and no face to face due to covid. Always check solicitors bank details personally and never change them when requested but not a nice way to do business.

That is really scary. What a horrible bunch of humans these people are ☹️ Thanks for the info , it is always good to be aware xx

The latest one this week is a recorded message that tells me of an apple phone that has been ordered, if I have not ordered this then press 1, of course I hang up, but have had the same message from 3 different numbers at different times on the same day, it drives me nutty. Thanks for the update saramacq x
