Advice cant walk!

Apart from my other problems, I seem to have strained my groin.I'm not sure how and I've never done this before. I cant believe how debilitating it is and am having to spend most of my days sitting/lying on the couch with a hot water bottle on it. I can only get round by hanging on to a trolley and its incredibly painful. Has anybody had this? How long did it last and when could you walk on it again. Is there anything I can do to help it. My daughter took me to our local health centre who only suggested painkillers and not to overdo it whatever that means!

Oh I so sympathise Aingeful. It’s so very painful. Mine took a up to a week to feel better. I struggled to walk and Pete bought me a special seat for the loo which is brilliant!

My friend had a similar problem too and her GP said she has osteo arthritis.

Hope things improve very soon. Xxx💜

I had this about 2 years ago and googled this and thought it was bursitis of hip but told it was osteo arthritis of hip . Pain was as you say in groin.not hip. Could give n me a?cortisone injection b ecause I am on blood thinners so given gabapentin and then the o pregabapentin to cut pain but that only gave me horrific constipation. Nothing else. Sometime later i did a planned pulmonary rehab and guess what . Lungs didn't improve but after 6 weeks I could walk easily again. I think it was the mini trampoline and the walking machine / treadmill that helped so much . Now the pain is trying to return because I cannot walk properly indoors and cannot go outside to stride out so trying to do similar exercises stretching the stride and holding it for 30 secs. If you try this do hold onto chair back.for support. Not easy . Can you ask for info from a physio. ? Our surgery did let offer self refer and my referral was by phone with video of my latest exercise sent over e mail. If not you can find lots of info on line

.Try PhysioTools first that is the one that physio has used in past.

Only can tell you what happened to me and it might not be correct for you .

Best of luck

I had bursitis of the hip , I had to borrow a neighbours crutches to walk. I got over enthusiastic on my cheap exercise bike .The physiotherapist used some kind of heat lamp device on it, took a few weeks to heal .

Everything takes time doesn't it. The lamp sounds good-

I'm finding a hot water bottle very comforting!

Thanks Jaybird. I have been looking at excercises. I think half the problem is the inactivity during lockdown. Lockdown has a lot to answer for!

Exactly, just walking around house is not enough because I find i am not able to stride out. Pottering doesn't do it. I need a tread mill whatever.

That sounds horrible. And not much help from your health centre 🙄 I hope you start to feel better soon.
