Responsibility for vitamin D supplementation of elderly care home residents in England: falling through the gap between medicine and food.
That is a very interesting report. Now attention has been brought to the surface due to the Pandemic things need to change.
If I was a relative, I would be giving the Care Home a bottle of Vit D every 3 months. It is how I buy it for me, if you cannot get out, you do not just need it in winter, I take it all the year round.
I have taken it all year round as well. Even before Covid, I was inside my workshop all day long.
The misfortune is, the amount of people who work in the NHS, but do not keep up with some of the research. Not so long ago, I was overhearing an argument between 2 nurses, when their service had been asked to do a home injection for my B12. One said to the other, "I do not understand what all the fuss is about, these are only Vitamins".
Wince!
Mmm, I think it is too easy in these jobs, to get ones head down and do the work that needs to be done, always more that the time allowed, or so it seems. With no cover (certainly in the job I had) coming back off a break, you just piled in again. I had no children and could spend evenings doing catch up and with the introduction of a requirement to update, I managed. However I am aware of one of my lot, who was dismissed in the end, after refusing to update or go on a single course in 25 years.
