Here we go again..............Yet another (false) positive test.

Sharon has been tested positive yet again. If true, that would be the world's very first reported triple re-infection case! This is, of course, has to be yet another false positive. But following protocol we are both back into isolation. The actual swab was taken last Friday morning, 25/9, six days ago.

The ,oh so wonderful "world beating", track and trace system has again not contacted her at all, to get her close contacts and neither have I had any contact from them (they must have our details from the previous home tests, sent to the same address). I am gobsmacked by their efficiency, not. It was the same the last time she was tested positive too. A coincidence of coincidences? sorry but I cannot wear that excuse.

How many other times is this happening, it hardly breeds any confidence? Surely they must have records of all the false results, it is not rocket science to enter all the test results in a computer data base, all it takes is a tick in a check box.

Legally, I am able go gallivanting about purely because I have not been officially notified, for the record I am not going to anyway regardless of her test result. Is it any wonder that the country is in such an absolute mess. It also brings into question the accuracy of the official numbers of newly infected people as well, quoted in the media on a daily basis.

Morning 2gs! Why am I not surprised? With your story and that of the woman yesterday (?), saying that in 4 months of working for track and trace she had spoken to only one person you cannot have any confidence in them. A friend's daughter had a slight temperature (a cold), but the school insisted on a test. Ok, fair enough, but they had to go to the Isle of Wight ……. we live near Tunbridge Wells, Kent!! When you are faced with a trip like that, you're not going to get a test unless you absolutely have to, are you?! So official numbers? Nah!!! Never believed them anyway ;)

Hope all goes well in your isolation! xx

What a palaver 2greys. You couldn’t make it up. Just for the record, according to the C-19 app by Zoe (Tim Spector) the number of cases UK wide is recorded at over 19,500. Who’s right? I find it a bit confusing to be honest.

Take care both. Xxx

Confused sassy? You couldn’t make it up. As Terry Wogan would say ‘welcome to the world of the terminably bewildered’ 🤪

Leaving aside the personal financial effect. The effect on the nursing home and employees is also dire with staff shortages, as Sharon is not the only one this happens to.

The home cannot use "bank staff" because they will not have been tested weekly nor can they use agency staff because of the cross infection risk from other homes. This results in extra pressure on the remaining staff with staff shortages.

The residents themselves then have to suffer from lack of contact on a personal side, leading to an increased feeling of loneliness and isolation which then affects their mental health, because the staff do not have the time to associate with them on a social level.

So distressing for the residents and staff alike xx

The test and trace response is really worrying. No information requested of close contacts at all (again), if this was for real then I could be spreading the virus all over the place, they have no idea that I have still been shielding all this time. This is really important to prevent infecting others and the whole point of test and trace in the first place, and as far as we are concerned it is not working as it should be at all.

My thoughts exactly

You must be so tired of all this greys.there are no winners in this situation.

I don’t understand why track and trace isn’t working after all this time

I hope you and Sharon are doing ok .

The only thing that ticks me off is that it can affect any hospital appointments, which I am expecting but had no letters to date, to confirm.

Yes we are totally fine in ourselves thank you. We are all stocked up and want for nothing, better off than some with having a huge choice from Netflix, Amazon and YouTube to watch and of course a non swearing parrot, little chance of getting bored. I hope you are doing okay yourself as well.

You have enough to cope with with your health. This must feel like another obstacle thrown in your way.

I’m m having a few problems, but we are trying to problem solve and work our way through.

The palliative care consultant is trying to sort my pain out at present, so that will be good when she succeeds at least the codeine takes the edge off. We’re keeping away from others , lots of Netflix Amazon And a non swearing cat. Stay safe.

Cant you teach your parrot to swear at Johnson 2G? (This will get removed for sure!)

I have been trying for 34 years to teach her to talk. Her deceased mate was a prolific talker, but he did not swear at all.

Hello 2 grays. Is it possible when Sharon gets tested there is still A little amount of COVIDstill in her system hence a positive text

2greys profile image
2greys in reply toOsha

That is possible if she was infected at the time and why the rule to not have another test for 6 weeks. This does not hold with the last time she was tested with a positive result because a week later we did the home test which came back with both of us tested as negative, enabling me to have my PET scan. Still convinced we are immune from having the virus back in April anyway.

The more serious problem to my mind is that on two separate occasions now there has been no contact from track and trace at all.

Hence huge increases in infection rates ! And people can't afford to isolate (easily!) either, it's just a mess :( xx

Testing has uncovered 170 cases of Covid-19 among workers at a pork meat processing plant in Cornwall.

Five hundred staff at Pilgrim's Pride in Pool, near Camborne, were tested in a contact tracing exercise by the NHS.

An example of just why contact tracing is so important and is essential for it to work across the board.
