A new scam!

I have received a text msg on my mobile:

From 07931018953

It reads

Halifax: You registered for Mobile Bankingon 21/09/ If this WASN'T you, visit(https ://Halifax.Device-DeRegistration.com)note I put the brackets in to prevent it going to HU's redirect service.

------------------------------------------------------------

The first give away is the web address which is NOT a legitimate one. A legitimate one would look something like this Halifax.com/Device-DeRegistration

Anybody can register a site like that. You can register a domain, which is done with a robotic computer, of anything to make it look legit, ie(healthunlocked.rip-you-off-with-a-scam.com) note where the ".com" is, it is not(healthunlocked.com)

-------------------------------------------------------------

Put the phone number into the search bar at "Who phoned me" a phone tracing service at:

scam-numbers.co.uk/

press enter and you will see the result for that number being dangerous.

----------------------------------------------------------

The end of today's web address protocol lesson.

Thanks 2 greys . Hope im not speaking too soon but i get very few scams, only one from amazon that i remember. My number is

ex directory (quite accidentally) and i have left it so . The only problem being some phones refuse to talk to me by landline so have to use mobile which was disconnected at EE in late mar. I havent replaced it yet as i cannot get out anyway..

Thanks for the warning.

The tv license scam is still going strong and for desserts I get regular Amazon and Lidl scam emails congratulating me on goods and prizes I’ve won. Lucky me 😆

The TV Licensing database was hacked a while ago and a list of it's customers was stolen, if TVL had record of your email address or mobile number on that database, you can guess the rest.

Just take notice of any web addresses it should just be the company name.com anything else added to the company name and before the .com is a scam site. Just simply visiting these web sites can result in an invisible piece of malicious software being silently installed on your device that can spy on sensitive information or even lock it up with ransomware.

Thanks for the warning! Blooming scammers are a nuisance. Still, if we all 'stay alert' we'll beat them in the end. xx Moy
