Intro to me & my inquisitive mind

Hi everyone. I’m new to this forum. I was diagnosed with Emphysema in 2014. Ironically, I’d stopped smoking 1 year prior to the diagnosis & was breathing fine, with good fitness levels. However, I swept up residue plaster from a decorating job I was working on. No mask! The air was really thick with plaster dust & I ended up heading outdoors, gasping for breath.

I don’t take any medication but do take a plethora of vitamins & supplements & I was having laser light therapy & acupuncture treatment until lockdown was implemented in March. I’ve been shielding since then.

I troll the internet regularly to seek information, research & possible cures & have recently come across a website Omnispirant.com who are working on an inhaler which contains stem cells. Further investigation revealed that this company (based in Tipperary, Ireland), estimate that the inhaler should be available for use around 2028. Unfortunately they are testing this product on animals, which I don’t agree with. But on the upside, it is proving to be successful. Just hope it will be available soon to help all the people suffering with this debilitating condition.

Stay safe everyone & keep breathing😤🙏🏼

My friends hub y like you good health. Plenty exercise and vitamins s developed emphysema and they also think his job didn't help. He was a self employed carpet fitter and they thi the fibres from the carpets affected him

Hi Spacecat1.

Research has been scarce but as COPD/emphysema has become a scourge across the world (probably linked to pollution & work related particulates), drug companies are now striving to find a cure. Omnispirant sounds very promising. I encourage you to research this company & I pray that they are successful 🙏🏼

Hi and welcome. I too was diagnosed with emphysema in 2014 and, like you, it was plaster dust that triggered a bad episode for me too. You are doing well if you are managing without treatment. I have a truck load of meds now but could not manage without them.

The work Omnispirant sounds very interesting and it will also be interesting to see how human trials develop. Keep us posted as and when you learn more.

Thanks for the welcome lzb1. Omnispirant predict release to those in need by 2028. We all live in hope🙏🏼🤞🏼

Thank you for being so inquisitive! Omnispirant certainly sounds like an interesting possibility. You piqued my interest, and I read about it @ healtheuropa.eu/innovation-...

In another article, I found that the Irish government awarded the company €9.4 million in late 2019. That seems quite positive.🤞

Inquisitiveme in reply toKpacific

Hi Kpacific.

Yes, they are receiving grants from EU. Their work sounds very promising. I encourage everyone suffering with COPD/lung disease to review this company.

In the meantime, we can only hope & pray that they’ll continue to receive funding, to enable the launch of this innovative treatment🙏🏼🤞🏼

Welcome inquisitiveme, you are doing z good job trolling, and to find out about this potential new inhaler, I'm sure none of us knew about, I was diagnosed.6 years after quitting smoking, but it was a genetic condition that caused it, still the ciggies probably didn't help. And again Welcome.

Welcome inquisitiveme

Ooh that sounds interesting x

Hi, from one newcomer to another😃 this sounds very interesting, like you, not keen on animal testing, I also was interested to hear how you were treating your condition. I have just been googling possible benefits of vitamins C and E along with cineole capsules, walnuts and humidifier lol it also mentioned acupuncture etc, but guess I’ll stick with the items I can purchase just now. How are you coping without the acupuncture and laser light therapy ? I’m on medication but would prefer to try the likes of vitamins etc alongside. Massive eating problems due to breathlessness so they will not do any harm

Hi saramacg. I take the following vitamins & supplements:

Pycnogenal

Vit C

Vit D (spray -under tongue)

Vit B complex

NAC (N Acytil Cisteine)

Vit E

L-Argenine

Garlic

CoQ10

Calcium with vit K

Oregano

Turmeric with Black Pepper

I also inhale (through a nebuliser), Colloidal Silver, or Oregano.

The Laser Light Therapy was helping. I didn’t realise how much it was helping until I had to stop in March. This along with Acupuncture, oh & occasional Cupping was being administered by a true expert in the field of natural healing & I will resume treatment with her once all this COVID madness is over.

All of the above add up to a considerable monthly cash outlay & friends have commented that ‘prescription meds are free for folks my age (69)’. But I’m a big believer in natural remedies & treatments. Plus, the meds prescribed only mask symptoms & give temporary relief, they don’t improve or treat the root cause of the disease.

As far as exercise goes, I practice Yoga & Qi Gong (similar to Tai-chi), for about 20 mins every other morning, before breakfast. There are several Qi Gong videos on You Tube that are easy to follow😉

Sorry this is such a long reply saramacg. Just thought you might like to know how I cope with Emphysema. Hope the info I’ve provided may prove helpful for you🥰

All the best xx

in reply toInquisitiveme

Hi inquisitiveme , I really appreciate your response. It is a lot of vitamins etc and must be very costly. Years ago my NHS doctor practised homeopathy and I was extremely lucky as I got my prescriptions from him . I surely did miss that doctor when he retired! My GP now is good but it’s all the normal drugs and although I appreciate all that has been done for me , having been aware of alternative medicines , and how effective they can be , and being extremely fed up with feeling so drained , not eating properly Coughing for Gold etc etc I was googling to see what could be used alongside the meds I’m on. I know that my vitamin b is down but read that c /e along with cineole capsules and walnuts, add in humidifier could be beneficial . I have fans and air purifier which do help somewhat but I’ve made a list of the above and will give it a try. May add in some of yours also .

I was concerned for you with so many services not being available. Have friends with family member (child) who is totally reliant on alternative medication .

Many thanks to you. I’m also going to look for Qi Gong, Stay well

Hi,

Once again thank you for all the amazing info regarding vitamins etc. I’m working my way through list of essentials which I’ll use to top up conventional meds. It’s a bit time consuming but am getting there!

Honestly cannot thank you enough

in reply toInquisitiveme

Hi, I’m still in process of deciding which to order and thought I’d try and see if I could get an appointment with a homeopathic Practitioner. Emailed one thats near me. What I did read was that your GP can make an NHS referral , if they have funds to do so. I’ve also been checking out Chinese Herbal practitioners near me but website informs don’t visit if you have respiratory infection (cough, sore throat, shortness of breath) you do have to laugh at that lol. Anyway back to grind had a rotten night and today not good , I much preferred yesterday ! So much choice with the vitamins etc, my Holland and Barrett basket is loaded! Take care

Hi saramacg.

Let me know if you manage to get an appointment with a Homeopath & what he/she advises.

My daughter is naturopath. She makes remedies from plants & regularly supplies me with things like elderberry syrup & echinacea, which help ward off colds & flu.

Our planet holds many natural gifts to aid health & healing, but big Pharma stamps out that knowledge to ensure their colossal profits😡

Seek & you shall find😉

Take care Sarah.

All the best, Gill xx

in reply toInquisitiveme

Hi, I am seeking lol! Thank you so much for all your help. I’m still waiting on any of them emailing me back. Hopefully if things get better I’ll be able to book appointment. At present I look sick and make all the appropriate noises that frighten folk off.

Tomorrow should be a better day,

Yes you are right about these companies, money first and foremost.
