Hi all. Hope you are all keeping well. Just a wee update and advice if u can on the new inhaler I have been given by my gp. As some of you may know I was diagnosed by spiro test with a fev1/fvc of 70.3% reduced to 69.5 % after using a ventolin inhaler. Doctor wasnt really wanting to give me anything saying at thr time "wait till everyday life is harder on you". But with the advice from some great people on here I went back and demanded something as walking up a slight hill or stairs was making me so breathless and my heart beat way to hard and fast, so he relented and gave me Solano inhaler to use as when needed. . So this was all in January. Since then I have had a chest infection then pleurisy then other infections non lung related, that required a/b. So was back at doc yesterday for a review on how the inhaler was working. Which to be honest I couldn't tell if it was . As I didn't feel it was any use . So she checked me out and then wrote me out a new prescription for foster 100/6. Well I took the two puffs yesterday outside the health centre and boy did I get the shakes. The internal shakes. Felt like I was trembling but not physically. And my heart started to palpitate thought that it might be because it's a new drug being given so decided to give it a go let my body get used to it. Still allowed to use the blue inhaler as when needed which I have had to use today. This heat is really going for my chest. Plus it doesn't help that some of my clients have their bathroom heater on FULL HEAT while I'm showering them. So u can imagine I am like a wilting flower in this lovely weather. I've noticed I am having coughing fits more today . My chest feels so tight and im wheezy. I guess the weather is to blame for that but is it possible it can be the new inhaler too?

Hello Cough cough, Oh dear. It's Friday and a bank holiday weekend coming up. Is there any chance you could speak to your GP today for advice? If not then try your Pharmacist. Just tell whoever what you've put in your post and see what he/she thinks.
I was changed from Seretide to Fostair about two weeks ago and no problems. In fact it's much better. Sorry I can't help more.
Do you think you might be starting a chest infection? Just something to bear in mind with the other symptoms you're describing.

The heat is also getting to me, I use Fostair 100/6 and for me it is the star of the show, out of my three inhalers. We are all different, what suits one does not suit another. There are other combination inhalers that might suit you better but it is a case of trial and error until you find the one that works for you.
Like many, I hate this heat - simply can't breathe! I use Fostair & Salbutamol and get the same reaction when I overdose (6+ puffs) on the Salbutamol - shakes, sweating, sort of panic attack type symptoms.
Another infection sounds likely - worth getting it checked before the GP goes off on a jolly!
I find that Fostair is the best inhaler ever, like Watfordgirl I find it better than the Seretide it replaced. Having said that, we are all different - you'll find one that suits you I'm sure.
Hello I have only recently been diagnosed and was given Fostair it is the only one I have had so cannot comment on the different ones available but when I spoke to BLF nurse she seemed to thing it was a good one to be on. I do not really get out of breath but do suffer from coughing in fact it has just come back again but I thing that it could be because of time of year hope you get it sorted
Fostair can give you the shakes but not normally after 2 puffs. I think fostair is a good inhaler. This weather is a nightmare and that is possibly why your symptoms seem worse. Speak to your doctor again if your still really worried.
Simple answer is yes it could be. call the nhs help line 111 and the blf help line. get as much medical advice as you can please dont leave it we are all diferent and what works like a wonder cure for one can make another quite porly. Good luck i hope you are back on top of things soon
And just as a bit of info for those struggling with the heat. A small hand held fan held up to your face near your nose and mouth has been clinicly proven to help with the breathing. Just a gentel flow of air over the face works. Im not sure why but it dose. I carry a small fan with me wear ever i go. It works for me give it a try you may be plesantly surprised

Hi did the physician not tell you to use the Fostair with an aerochamber, it allows the dosage to still reach the lung but in a more controlled manner, far better but an extrat thing to carry around with you but worth it. Get the cough checked with your physician a dosage of carbocicteine will help to bring up the mucus, make the coughing more productive and worthwhile.

There are some rare side effects with Inhalers I use Fostair & it takes my breath away/makes me cough every time I use it even though I use a Spacer. You need to get your symptoms checked out as it seems like you have a really bad chest infection etc. This weather is not helping most of us God Bless XC
Thank you for all your replys. The day the doc changed me onto the new inhaler she did check me out and said my lungs sounded clear. No wheezing or rattle,which I don't understand as I do have a wheeze especially at night. Wheezy with like a whistle sound through it. But then again I'm no doctor. I do believe this weather doesn't help.

Copd or asthma ? If it's Cops try getting the doctor to out you on Spiriva. Only side affects I've had are feeling cold.

I had multiple lung infection since 2018 and due to that I been diagnose acute bronchitis. I had the same problem each time after foster earlier , I’m taking 8 puff daily due to my crossover asthma. Doctor said it’s normal . They give me additional alvesco and spiriva inhaler as well to be my new buddy . After a year with em the effect kinda less but still there . It’s seems I need to live with it .
