I studied at university, doing pure and applied mathematics, probably why I figure most things out logically; which gets on my wife`s nerves at times. That was in 1968 , and confess I struggle now to show my grandson quadratic equations and others. I would have enjoyed teaching, instead I ended up as an engineer on motorways doing the first stage setting out. A1M and M6 and others I worked on. M6 was a nightmare in the Winter. Been married 51 years, have 6 grand kids, 5 boys, with a great granddaughter due October. Have IPF, had it for 2 and half years now. Take care Bob, stay healthy.

Hi hypercat , I think I can reply now that I THINK I`m getting hang of the forum or w.h.y. I am not Bob, indeed I have made a few here think I am as I replied TO Bob in wrong place {I think} I am ding_dong_bell, called Don and not Bob. Sorry for confusion caused, I showed the msg messes caused by me to my daughter, and she was not surprised at all, she has had 47 years of me with my head in the clouds, well it is a much more peaceful place, is it not, and a great place to be

Welcome to this forum. My husband is a mathematician too and was lucky enough to teach it at university level. He too can explain quadratic equations. And can recite Pi to 21 decimal places.

There are several members with IPF who can offer advice and support.

I think I have become lost, as I received an email from Bob . I thought I was replying to him, but seems you all think I`m Bob, I am ding_dong_bell, who Bob wrote to, hence I am not Bob, as I have bells on my name, and a ding dong, Bob, I don`t think he does. So as yet I haven`t heard back from Bob, who lives in America, perhaps he is lost also. I started my reply with Hi Bob, thinking Bob would get it but ding-dong ain`t so good on a computer, so I am sorry for the confusion of bells, and pussy down the well, which Bob never threw in. Hope my dilemma is cleared up, now that I have explained it clearly. BTW I cannot tell you what a quadratic equation is, as it`s something one just does in Maths, never needing to really know what it actually means..All I wanted to do was send a reply to Bob, but seems I`ve obviously done something incorrectly on this paptop.

Thank you, but I`m not Bob, in the confusion of myself inserting a message in wrong place, under Bob, some think I am he. When in fact my site name is ding_dong_bell, Proper given name is Don. Never in my dreams would I ever have gone as far as Phd standard, kudos to your husband.
