It is with sadness that I pass on this message that was posted on Bob's Facebook wall.
"This is a message for everyone that knew and loved Bob. It is with immense sadness that we have to inform you that Bob passed away in the early hours of Sunday 10th May. We are all absolutely gutted and it has come as a huge shock.
As some of you may already know, Bob underwent surgery at the Bristol Royal Infirmary on Friday with the aim of increasing his lung function. Although his surgery was initially successful, he developed complications from which he was unable to recover.
We appreciate that, although Bob had been ill for some time, this news will nonetheless come as a shock to you all too.
There will be a wake in Bristol in the coming weeks and we will announce the date and time as soon they have been arranged.
Please feel free to spread this news, as Bob knew a lot of people, some of whom may not be on Facebook.
If there is anything that anyone would like to write on here or say at the wake then we would be very pleased to hear from you.
We can also be reached by email at the following addresses: rhiannoncraven@gmail.com, gabecraven@hotmail.co.uk and Nick badeggs@hotmail.com"
Bob and I both had valve implants, mine very successful, unfortunately, Bob's not so. As a result, Bob was put forward for Lung Volume Reduction Surgery, which was performed last week, on Friday morning.
R.I.P. Bob.

I am so sorry to hear this news. Bob was very supportive through my own valve implant journey (ongoing). Rest in peace you lovely man. xx
thoughts and prayers go out to the family as such a sad time this man fought a brave fight right to the end. Rest in peace Bob your earthly labours are now over.
I am really so sorry because we all had such high hopes that this would improve his quality of life. I do hope that knowing the thoughts of all of his friends are with you will help you through thishorrible time.
This is such a shock and my heart goes out to his family. So sad, and like others had a brief word on his last jokey post. Deepest sympathy to his family and friends. RIP Bob.
So sorry to hear that - very, very sad when we were all hoping he would have a better quality of life after the operation. Condolences to his nearest and dearest. May he rest in peace. x
We chatted on Facebook over the weekend, both before & after his operation. Last message from him Sat evening was cheeful, positive, very jokey & jovial .... the op had gone well etc. I heard nothing on Sunday, but thought nothing of it ..... then this.
Poor old Bob. A bit of a hole in my life now ..... we got on well, we shared parallel COPD conditions & treatment journeys. I shall miss him a lot.
