Thought you might like to see part of the front garden at my cottage. The green coloured flower is. '. Lime light'. a hydrangea. Several years ago a garden centre gave every customer that day a free rooted cutting, must admit we didn't hold out much hope........ We were wrong.... π.

Hi there, trusting all is well...... Am slowly getting there....... On the 19th uncovered a hidden wasp nest in the compost heap, got between 15 & 20 stings........ It was horrendous. Skin still red in parts, slight itch, but pains gone.
Used white vinegar spray to remove Wasps from my hair, and to spray over my arms.. Was very handy.... as used for cleaning dishwasher the day before
Used local anaesthetic cream, anti histamine cream, a rather weak Hydrocortisone cream........... Not all at once. π Paracetamol tabs and ice packs.
Also in my cabinet is Eurax cream... I used once or twice. I did find. Cold / tepid water a great help, can't remember when I washed my arms so much.
Had a struggle to get a tetanus jab......... My Jim had a habit of putting the odd bag of horse dung on the heap, so with so many stings I was rather concerned. In the coming weeks I will be talking with Gp about my experience with both the receptionist. and the nurse who I eventually saw for the jab.
Me too have one red one our daughter chose for my 60th birthday and hubby and son bought me rose bushes. Hubby does the pruning love my garden but me and pruning dont do well I end up pruning to much.
Hi... There are the heucheras which add colour to any garden, all year round... but what I do is .......... Where I know plants will finish early I cheat a little. My favourite is the antirrhinum. I sprinkle a few seeds where I know a gap will occur, and they are great for self seeding. The flowers last well and they keep producing.... I have a few self set below my French door step. Each time the door is opened and closed these plants bend and sometimes get caught . If the growing tip is broken the plant just bushes out and carries on flowering.
With long term plants in patio pots I sprinkle Lobelia and Alyssum around the edge of the pot. So even when it's a green shrub there's always some flowers. If. you try it.... Let me know.
Oh, thanks Jo, those are such simple tips. One question, when do you sow the seeds? Do you plan to sow them about a month before you know the plants go over?
Thank you, its been a funny year, my beautiful hydrangeas in the back garden are suffering from full hot sun. Have to get the hose out tonight and soak everything, but it will be cooler then......
What a lovely team of plants, all toned together. I love it! My flower garden at the front is my first call of the day, often in my dressing gown! Just love checking up on them all...what a welcome by your front door πΈπ»πΌ I have a hydrangea too!
It's very pretty Jo. π Very calming to look at all those pretty colours. I tried to grow Lavender but failed. π I am doing better with sunflowers. I hope you are doing okay. xx π±π
Hi there, good luck with the sunflowers. We had a lavender hedge, it was lovely, the flowers always full of bees and butterflies, but I had to let it go. I didn't fancy using a hedge cutter. Still have a small bed of lavender but can manage it with hand clippers. .....
What a lovely assortment of flowers together. Itβs so nice when they bloom at the same time. Iβve seen that hydrangea advertised and Iβve never had a white one just the pink/blue variety but it looks very pretty.
Thank you..... If you have room... then why not try different colours. I have I think 4different whites....pompom, cone, lace cap, and a climber. I did buy a beautiful crimson/purple one not so long ago. If its new to me and not too expensive I will always find a space.... π
Lovely photo, Hydrangeas are one of my favourites too. I used to have a βLimelightβ hydrangea growing in a big pot but it sadly succumbed to hot summer weather while we were away some years ago.
Planning to rebuild our garden this autumn/winter so there will hopefully be some new hydrangeas. (And alchemilla mollis, another lime coloured plant I really love)
Beautiful mix of colours I believe hydrangeas come in all colours as my 6 year old granddaughter pointed out they have 4 different colours in their garden- 2 seem to come from the same bush. Bee stings are my worst nightmare-though I've never been stung - gosh how awful for you. x Anita
Hi...... Thats possibly due to the soil. I never worry about bees..... Lovely
little creatures. They only sting when they have no option as it kills them. . .. Not like Wasps which appear to have a very nasty nature and will attack at the slightest cause and can keep stinging as I found out.
Lovely photo. I am not a gardener myself but I do like to see a nice garden. I just go to the garden centre and buy a few potted plants to spread around.
I have a nice garden area with lawn and borders etc but I also have a paved yard that I love to fill with pots - flowers , herbs and salad veg as well as two maple trees in large pots and they look just as good as the the ones in the ground ! Doesnβt matter how or where you grow plants if you grow them youβre a gardener Enjoy youβre trips to the garden centre and happy gardening π x
Hi.... Thank you. Glad you like it. There's a pretty pink pompom hydrangea at the far end and a few heucheras with unusual colours at the front. They are so easy to look after.......
What a lovely mix and well tended too. So sorry to hear of your wasp stings. I had a few one time when pegging out the washing, one flew under my arm onto my bust and when it stung I put my arm down , the little stinker stung me 3 times on my boob, I couldnt wear a bra for days, good job i was younger ha!
