Hi Everyone

Don't know if its me but I seem to get much more breathless when the weather is warmer and more humid - having trouble doing the simplest of things.

Anyone else affected?

xx

Hi yes I’m the same ever since it started to warm up I have really struggled with my breathing. I have spoken to my respiratory nurse and they have tested me for allergies incase it is Hayfever.

I have real trouble doing th emits simplest things when it’s warmer dreading this week for the heatwave we are going to have xx

Do as little as you need keep a fan close by that’s what I do. They say to keep your windows closed but I can’t bear it with the windows closed so I’ve just got the fans going to try and keep rooms cool. Stay safe xx

Gets me every time, along with windy weather, cold weather etc.etc. Not much weather does suit my dodgy lungs anymore but high humidity along with very high temperatures is the worst. Hopefully after this week it is going to improve.

For the past seven years I've lived somewhere where a hot day is 11c 🙄 Suddenly I find myself in temperatures around or over 30. I'm not used to the heat anymore and had forgotten what hayfever is like. There are no trees or shrubs or flowers where I live and it's so wet that the grass pollen doesn't float around. Now I'm surrounded by all kinds of things in flower and blossom. Which is such a lovely change. But I'm really noticing how it's affecting my breathing and the fatigue is much worse too. Not to mention all the midges, mosquitoes and other biting and stinging insects that I'd also forgotten about! 🕷️🕸️🐝🐜

Such a shame that you can't enjoy all the blossom and flowers without all the detrimental effects of the climate you describe in your current surroundings.

As for midges, mosquitoes and the like they are just evil little devils!

I only get breathless when it gets hot and humid, but with pollen level really high at the moment im reaĺly struggling. I also cannot sit in my garden due to some selfish people having bonfires over the last few days.

Yes, I know how you feel. At one time it became almost unbearable so I invested in buying a floor sized fan a couple of years ago and I find it helps enormously. One of the best things I've bought. In fact I bought a smaller one too as the bedroom was so hot and humid.. Now I don't have the worry of moving one fan from room to room. As I am partly deaf the whirring sound it makes doesn't bother me and I now feel comfortable sleeping during the night.

Hi Kimlu

I am more tired and breathless when

It's hot and sunny, and I was always a sun Worshipper I only have to sit in the Sun for ten minutes and I tan up. But yes the heat and humidity does affect my breathing. Using a hand held fan against the side of your face helps.

Take care be safe and well. God bless you.

They do help so worth considering but when it's very hot and the heat accumulates indoors they just waft warm air about. I hope you get through this week without too much of a struggle. Best wishes x

Last year when it was hot I was so grateful that work was aircon! Normally I hate it cos too cold! Hot and humid is soooo bad for me. Wont be at work this week, but I am so lucky that if I close everything at home, windows, curtains etc, my house is incredibly COLD!!!

However, I am going for a scan at the hosp tomorrow at 11, so really worried anyway, but with it being hot I am even more anxious.

Hope you get through the next few days Kimlu, next week is supposed to be cooler, but not cold!! xx

Yup, problems breathing, also my ankles swell when it goes above 24/25, so next days will be hell. I shove my wrists under the cold tap for a bit, and lie on the hallway floor (best breeze) on my back with legs elevated. The sort of position you find dogs getting into in the sun. Just have to remember to check I have some clothes on, before I answer the front door. Do not want to frighten either Amazon or Sainsburys.

Heat affects me terribly with my breathing. Can’t have a room to hot or I struggle. I struggle with eating as well in hot weather Thursday is going to be a shocking day to get through as it is going to be 29 degrees but feel like 33 degrees I am dreading it.

Yes I’ve found it for the last 3 summers, much worse in warmth. I sometimes at home, wet a towel and put it on my arms or legs or both. Especially helps trying to get to sleep. Just invested in a dyson hot and cool air purifier at some exorbitant amount. It works. Air conditioning in car works. We used to keep a 4pint plastic milk bottle in the freezer, then put it in front of fan to cool air. That works too.

Good luck Xx jo

Oh yeah welcome to the 'club' 🤗 . Mine is definitely caused by hayfever. My chest feel tight , get a coughing fit or just cough little but often.

I did try to use my Fostair inhaler if it does help when it happens - especially when outside and it did. When I'm inside my windows are always open and I cough or the breathing gets worse when I start to clean - do physical work.

I will speak to my consultant in two weeks time as I'm newly diagnosed with asthma. Also hayfever never effect me so badly 🤔☹️.

Take care and speak to your GP about it.

I have Bronchiectasis, & had wheezing problems on a hot weather walking holiday in Italy a couple of years ago. I emailed my respiratory nurse and was advised to increase my DuoResp & Ventolin inhalers immediately to 4 times a day, & take a steroid like prednisolone on future trips. Your Dr or chemist might advise you.

I find this happens every time with warmer weather. I have bronchiectasis and lungs seem to dry out.

Same. I run a dehumidifier with an air purifier at home. It makes it easier to sleep.

I don't normally have hayfever very much at all, but post covid I have been much more sensitive to pollen, pollution and the weather. I have massively dusted my bedroom, dust mite spray and mattress cover, and that helped somewhat.

The best thing so for me though, is albas oil in my small humidifier by my bed, really helps to clear my lungs.

Hello Kimlu , 👋

Yes!! Definitely I feel it , I have one lung that is basically kaput and a transplanted lung. Recently my pfts have been lower. So I panicked a bit. Then I remembered the science , humid air being so dense with it's high water content will automatically increase the resistance in the airways. Which is why we with poorly lungs get more breathless in the heat and humidity. That makes us breathe harder increasing our fatigue as well. Use a fan. It really helps and try to stay out of the sun.

Take care,

Cas xx 🙋🐕
