Has anyone else ever wondered about the oramorph and lorazepam which we are sometimes given. In both cases it says that you should not take it if you suffer from breathing difficulties and am wondering whether this is the reason I am feeling even more out of breath than usual this morning though I slept really well and feel great apart from the breathlessness

The morphine in the or oramorph is very low. I would imagine it's the high pollen at the moment but don't take my word for it, check with your pharmacist. Oramorph has been given for yonks to help with chronic coughing. X

When I started my latest Crohn's medication, the leaflet said it should not be taken with one of the meds I take with High Blood Pressure. I checked with the Consultant who had prescribed it before i took the first one, he said it was OK, so took it and have had no problems.

I think because it relaxes you I has to take lorasapham for a year because of panic attacks. My doctor took me off of it because she said it could cause altimizers spelled incorrectly

Greetings

I have an amazing special doctor for end of life. She says I'm to take morphine whenever I'm likely to get breathless, to fend it off: first thing in the morning to suppress the cough, and up to 4 diazepam in the day.

I know I'm "terminal", and she says that I need to be comfortable. Can't say I have a problem with that approach! She also recommended a day in bed, once a week. I can't say I'm leaping about with energy, but I cope with so much more now!!

Cheers

I take both oramorph and lorazepam. My FEV-1 is 16%

I do NOT think they are negatively effecting my breathing. The oramorph is good

for fighting off 'breathlessness' feelings and the lorazepam helps greatly with my anxiety.

I hope this helps.

In all cases consult with your physician.

Thanks,

JCL

In hospital I was given oromorph to help me to relax for tests, and scans. When my breathing got really bad it calmed me down . Think it must be something to calm anxiety . There is a big list of meds I shouldn't take it with but apart from a touch of nausea it semis to be ok.
