I have to go to the hospital next week for a biopsy, very scared as havent been out for 3 months. I cannot wear a mask because of breathing difficulties. Any tips appreciated

Going into hospital
My mother was in hospital for two weeks recently and was very impressed with the anti-covid measures. In fact she felt they were more concerned with that than anything else! Covid and non-covid patients scrupulously separated, lots of deep cleaning, all staff including porters, catering etc wearing ppe. It depends on the hospital of course but this was just her local general.
That's a comfort to me...I am going to my local hospital so hopeful it will be safe
Hi I hope your biopsy goes well. I don’t know if you would want to use a face shield / visa. They are quite cheap online now some have caps and sun hats attached.

P.S would you be able to wear a thin breathable mask for just when inside the hospital?. The Elle ones are thin T shirt cotton ones. Or a scarf to hold loosely over your nose/ mouth whilst inside.
I dont blame you being worried Suzie42, but hospitals are being very careful and wearing full ppe so think you will be ok. I would take a small hand sanitiser and maybe a cotton scarf just to be safe. Good luck x
Good luck with your biopsy. Do let us know how you get on.
Yes I will, thank you Ergendl. The following week I have to go back for a PET scan, so hopefully will not be so scared then
I have had my hospital visit and all was good, only 3 people in xray ! I had temperature checked at door and was given a mask, I managed to keep it on while walking along corridor. I took my own sanitizer and used it regularly. I felt safe. Was told no cancer in my lymph nodes and it should be confirmed next week with PET Scan
I am shielding, but had to be taken to hospital on Monday by ambulance. No mask in the ambulance although the paramedics wore them. I had to put one on until I was admitted to the ward. The hospital was very quiet as there are no clinics or visitors. Everyone was very professional and I had no worries at all.
