Covid19 & Copd

Just a thought, I'm wondering if a cure for the virus will help those suffering from COPD, as the virus seems to attack the lungs, worth thinking about.

That certainly is a thought! As copd is often associated with smokers I wonder how much will there is to spend resources to research treatments. It will be interesting to see if it does help us. x

It is a great idea but like you said will they want to spend money on research. Have a lovely day and take care of yourself 😊 Bernadette xx xx 🌈

The money and resources are there now for this virus so we will just have to wait and see.

One of our neighbours is deputy director of the local hospital trust. She is currently running the hospital where I was an inpatient twice in 2018. She says my ward - the specialist respiratory ward - is where Covid patients are being sent since they have the lung expertise to deal with the virus.

And get this! She says smokers tend to do better with Covid as their accessory breathing muscles are more developed and they deal better with the breathlessness. Who knew!?

Hahaha - crikey, you must have thought I was recommending taking up smoking. I doubt anyone would interprete my comment that way. But this was from a very NHS staff member who is directly managing nurses on covid wards and was merely reporting anecdotally what she has observed, and she was surprised too.

I certainly took it the right way I'm sure all reasonable people did 😀 xx

Hopefully! Im off for my 15 minute walk now from the back to the front of my house. Back and forth I meant, it doesnt take 15 minutes to walk FROM the back to the front, not that big!

Very excited as Ive reduced my daily dose of Symbicort from 8 for the last few years down to 3 a day. I put it down to stopping sugar and processed carbs (e.g. biscuits) altogether. Perhaps I'll take up smoking again to make sure I can survive the virus :) (Joking in case anyone else wondered) xxx
