Pip tribunal finally won

After 91 weeks waiting, I won back my standard care element. So I think I will be refunded 71 weeks of payments soon. This is due to a new award that was assessed and reviewed in November last year. My husband used to get carers allowance for me. So for the 71 weeks he lost while waiting for the tribunal, he therefore should be able to claim that back. How do we do this? Is it easier speaking to them in person explaining about the tribunal decision? Any advice appreciated.

What a crazy long wait. I have no advice unfortunately but I hope you'll get somewhere with this at last now 🤞

The payment should be automatically done, but if you have not heard anything from them in a week, give them a call directly.

Be prepared though! ATM you could be waiting 2 or 3 hours to get through!

Further to my earlier comment. I asked in a benefits help group on Facebook that I am in and they confirmed this -

"yes he would need to speak with carers direct and advise that he was awarded it back dated so carers should not have been stopped.. They will calculate what is owed. "

Great news - congratulations.

R they still doing tribunals? I thought that was out of the window with lock down.

If you've had a letter from the tribunal it should state in it the amount and when you can expect to receive the back dated amount.

If you've only just heard I would give them time to action such a payment.

Well done.
