Hi everyone, I was diagnosed with high blood pressure last year 2019 around November, I was prescribed ramipril 5 mg and amlodipine 5 mg, i am an asthmatic, since i started taking these 2 blood pressure medications i developed a difficulty in breathing which feels different then my normal asthma, one day checking around about these symptoms I found out that ramipril causes shortness of breath, has anyone experienced anything like this with ramipril?
Thanks in advance

I take both as well, but neither affect my breathing. Side affects/reactions like this can affect certain people because we are all different. Have a word with your GP, there are alternatives to be had.
I had different problems with Ramipril. The only blood pressure lowering tablet I can take without side effects is indapamide. In the end, I followed my GP's advice and reduced weight to a BMI of 22.5, and have no problems with blood pressure now.
After taking ramipril for a few years, I suddenly developed an allergy to them. Typically, this happened in the early hours of the morning because my lips had swollen so much they no longer looked like lips! That said, I don't recall any breathing difficulties.
Hi - just like a few others here I take Ramipril along with another tablet. The only comment I would add is to ask when you take these tablets? At the time I started the second tablet people were talking about taking blood pressure meds at night. Works for me. Another question for you and your GP maybe
