Is anyone on here taking Ramipril? I have been taking 1.25 mg every evening now for seven weeks and at first everything was fine.
I had my lung surgery three weeks ago and since then symptoms have got worse. Rapid weight gain, heavy swollen painful legs and swollen ankles, night sweats (couldn’t be wetter if you threw a bucket of water over me!!) feeling bloated and nauseous even though I am also on Omeprazole 20mg.
I am phoning my GP this morning as I am reluctant to take this anymore. Feeling very down this morning 😢😢

Hi. I've been taking Ramipril 10mg for at least the last 10 years and have been fine. I take alongside Amlodipine 5mg. The combo has controls my blood pressure well. I'm sorry to hear your symptoms, and hope your doctor can get you feeling better soon. Please keep us updated ☺
I take ramipril and indapamide for bp, there don’t seem to be any side effects for me. I hope you get some results from your doctor, he could try you on something else, there’s probably other drugs you could take instead. I hope you feel better soon
I take Amlodipine am and Ramipril 5mg pm for high Blood Pressure, for last 12 years+ cannot quite get my brain back far enough, no problems, other meds have been, but not these two.
I'm sorry, to hear, that you are 'Suffering' with Ramipril- I have to say that I have been 'On & Off', this Drug...Currently On...for some years now. I have a somewhat Different 'Brief', to you, however. I am a Kidney Patient and had a Kidney Transplant in July 2013, although my Condition is ANCA Vasculitis. This has also affected my Brain and Heart, I now live in 'Supported Living', though I do Do my own washing, cooking, Personal Care and Medication. I'm 'On' a Good Number of Other Drugs, relating to my Vasculitis and Transplant.
Sorry that I can't be more 'Help' wpw62. I would suggest seeing your GP AND your Hospital Consultant- ask your GP to Refer you. Another, Very Good, resource- often Overlooked- is your local Pharmacist, often extremely knowledgeable and Happy to help too! (There knowledge, really does, extend Beyond 'Cousin Mary's' Constipated Toddler.)
I hope that, your Doctors/ Consultants, manage to find suitable Alternatives, for you.
Thank you for your reply. The Ramipril is to help with mitral valve regurgitation so I suppose I should be taking something. Hoping my GP can suggest an alternative. I wish you well.
Ramipril was one of the many meds I had side effects from to control my raised BP. I can only safely take indapamide, but that didn't reduce my BP enough so I lost over a stone in weight too (BMI now 22.4) - hopefully that's done the trick. I think the raised BP is to do with the potassium and magnesium losing effects of the other meds I'm on.
