Do you have a cough? Do you have any unusual mucus discharge from your lungs? Do you have a temperature?
The lungs themselves dont have muscle although there are muscles and connective tissues along ribs which can get very sore, called costochonritis I think.
Pleurisy is painful too, it can be heard through a stethoscope as a rasping sound when the pleural membranes rub as we breathe instead of gliding silently.
Keep a record of symptoms that you can present to your gp.
Chest tightness and shortness of breath are two of the corvid symptoms. Best call gp again. Good luck, P
Hi thanks for replying, had no coughing, temperature or mucus. Think it’s been classed as Chest Wall Pain like costochondritis managed to find some nanproxen left over from my recent bout of sciatica so trying that out.
I massage the little muscles between the ribs in an exercise shown me by my osteopath for easing cramping intercostal muscles. Place fingertips on the sore muscles between the ribs and rotate the fingertips around the sore points. Start outwards from the edge of the soreness and move the fingertips in stages towards the centre of the soreness .
For a cramping diaphragm, tuck your fingertips under your ribcage and breathe in and out until the soreness eases. Then move fingertips further along the ribcage and repeat, covering the length of the ribcage in stages. I usually do both sides at the same time, either working from the waist inwards or from the stomach outwards.
