I think you should seek the advice of your respiratory nurse or consultant regarding this.

Where you reside I do not know but here in UK my understanding is, nebulizers are only prescribed for people with severe COPD or other severe lung / breathing issue and instructions on when to use the treatment is explained.

Again my understanding is, you do not need to nebulize every day unless your doctor / consultant has told you to under certain circumstances.

If you nebulize when you don't really need to you will not feel the benefit of doing so when you really need to.

You could ring the BLF helpline, you could also check out these pages:

My husband has severe emphysema and suffers from extreme breathlessness on the slightest exertion. He uses a Trimbow inhaler and carbocysteine for mucus. He was given a nebuliser with a supply of Salbutamol and Saline to use in it but having tried both together and separately he never uses it as he doesn’t find it helpful. He also doesn’t find a Salbutamol inhaler effective either.

If you are using Salbutamol and saline and you find it helps to open your airways I don’t see any problem using it if it relieves your breathlessness.

A doctor told me 10 puffs from a Salbutamol inhaler through a spacer is the equivalent of using a nebuliser.

Check with your doctor or better Respiratory Consultant as to how often you can use it.

So glad it gives you some relief. Wish it worked for my husband.

Best wishes and take care

Maybe you should have a oxygen assessment - I need oxygen only on exertion. All best wishes.

Sats are good.

I have bronchiectasis & asthma. I nebulise two bronchodilators 4 times a day (ventolin & atrovent) & in between times I use a ventolin inhaler as required. I still have difficulty with exertion, dressing, showering etc as you say. So I don’t see a problem with your nebulising. If you need these drugs, you need them, simple as
