An Englishman's Home.

โ€ข19 Replies

An Englishman's home is his castle,

Is now an old fashioned phrase

But it's recently become more his prison

In these modern bug ridden days.

Especially for the old and decrepit

Whose vulnerability is ripe for attack

Their house once so pleasant and homely

Now feels a claustrophobial shack.

But then we must not grumble

Locked in we might likely be

There's plenty to keep us all busy

We could study and earn a degree

There's just one immovable problem

Inertia is prevalent you see

It's hard to get up off the sofa

Even to make yourself tea.

One day is so much like another

Which can get you into a flap

When you suddenly realise it's Thursday

When you should be outside to CLAP!

Love it Don. I feel just the same, and would love to modernise, but must go internet shopping for loads of energy and go. , if only I could get out of this chair enjoy the sunshine the easterly wind is Baltic. Jane

Ah yes Don those were the days,

Sitting inside from choice, outside space upon which to gaze,

Now you have to be at home

Staying safe is what they say

Oh how I wish I could just roam

Oh well, perhaps another day.

Take care dear Don and Midge. Xxxx ๐Ÿ˜˜๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ’

You have taken the words out of my mouth Don. One day just rolls into another. Yes, I'm grateful for everything I have. I am trying to keep upbeat but it gets harder each day.

At least we know each one of us is experiencing the same. I keep telling myself its not forever.

That's right, the news gets a little better each day (if you ignore the bad stuff). ๐Ÿ˜‰

I am shocked Master Po i have never heard you moan

You very rarely come on here with anything like a groan

But wrap up warm against the wind and in your garden go

You and Midge can marvel at all the things that grow

And when you have tired of too much sun upon your head

You can have a fish and chip supper before retiring to bed. :) x

Just an observation, thatโ€™s all itโ€™s meant to be,

Iโ€™ll get down to my studying, if I can get off this settee. ๐Ÿค“

Good afternoon Mr.D and its another "Classic " from our rhymer ๐Ÿ†. I was giggling away especially when you used the word 'inertia ':- you see I'm going stir crazy and it reminded me of a Two Ronnies sketch, where Inertia is the name of the wife! Great rhyme.๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿ’•

Aw, sorry HH. ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ You must be wishing you were home with your woolly friends, hopefully it wonโ€™t be much longer.

Hopefully it won't be too long before I can get home. I miss my sheep and worry about them. But your rhyme really did make me smile. ๐Ÿ‘

Agreed. My house is not small, but it can easily feel very small indeed. There's some construction going on next door so I can't even catch some sun in the back garden. ๐Ÿ˜ก I think I may be going mad. But as you say we mustn't grumble. Could be worse. xx ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿถ

There a lot of building work going on extending a house opposite me which Iโ€™m finding quite entertaining really. They are using a lot of machinery I wouldnโ€™t mind having a go at. Boys toys. ๐Ÿ˜€

Thanks Don and you are so right all the days roll in one another . I have to ask my husband what day it is every morning . Our homes are truly our prisons at the mo , thank fully we have sunshine at the mo. x Anita

Things it will slowly start to improve in the outside world which will make us feel less isolated, but us vulnerables need that vaccine before we can safely emerge I think.
