How long does it take sainsburys to catch up with the nhs letter? And what happens then? Is it just that slots are available? Mine doesn't even mention deliveries, and has no collection slots available
Sainsburys priority: How long does it... - Lung Conditions C...
Sainsburys priority
I've not even heard from Sainsbury. Have a good day and stay safe 😊 Bernadette xx 🌈
I just discovered by chance that could get Sainsbury’s delivery. I subsequently received a recorded voice message.
Still have juggle to find a slot but at least can get a slot now.
No joy with any other supermarkets though.
I also had a phone call yesterday (from government person) to check all ok and getting food. Also that didn’t need anything else.
We had an email from Sainsbury’s and were offered a slot which we accepted. Unfortunately they don’t do recurring slots unlike Asda so that’s who we’re with now. I found Sainsbury’s to be very difficult to get any kind of slot with.
Please keep trying and try others too. Xxxxx
The co op do deliveries as I saw that they do on their website so have a look on there and see what they can do for you.
Also the little local shops probably deliver if you ask.
If you don't ask you don't get!
Hmm. It obviously has to be a weekly thing not a one off. And has to be when my daughter is here, i can't carry food in and put it away. Not sure what to do really
Hsd an e mail from JS but not had a letter from government apart from the one
telling me they were sending it to NHS. ! Not heard more
It took my Sainsburys store 3 weeks after I received the NHS letter to contact me via email but that was only an acknowledgement with no offer of guaranteed delivery slots. It is varying a lot all across the country.
I had email saying they had email confirming I was vunerable and that was it. Not offered any slots so will carry on trying to get a slot
I added my experience in more detail to knitters post earlier today.
Briefly after a lot of hard work, an email from GOVUK (I think), treble contact with GP, email advice from them to shield, I was surprised by a sudden email from Waitrose, saying we see you’re on the government’s highly vulnerable people’s list, please come and shop with us.
Tbh I was already working day n night on their site to get deliveries, as I shop there usually in store, and they’re the closest to us. But now when I log on, quite a lot of delivery dates appear....magic!!
Seems odd to hear from a supermarket before medical folks, but I’m going with it 😃🙃😄 of course I am!
Hope everyone else stuck in the slow lane like I was gets some help very soon xx
I have just had an email from Tesco re food deliveries. Can now use Tesco or Sainsbury’s.
This shows that information is still trickling through.
Do you only get contacted by supermarkets you are already registered with?
Hi don't get excited! I received a text two weeks ago from them saying that I was accepted as a person needing a priority slots because I'm shielding. "Within the next two days there will be slots available to you when you register with the email used with your nectar card". I sign in three times a day and as yet haven't even been able to get into the site.
Morrison's have just started giving priority slots this week and I have now been given slots weekly. However I was a long term customer that always had my shopping delivered for years. From my understanding they are matching known customers first and then trying to match other people shielding.
Once you’ve had an email from Sainsbury’s to say you’re priority, and have created an account if you need to, it takes up to 72 hours for the website to recognise you’re entitled to delivery - the email doesn’t say this, so I phoned to find out what was going on and the guy explained. Once it’s done that, when you log in, you should be able to select delivery. However, we’ve been in that position for 2 weeks, and despite logging in a couple of times a day, there’s not been a single available slot so far, so we’ve had to shop with other people in the interim. I’m reaching a point where I’m probably going to give up on checking tbh.
Same for me too. Sainsbury’s only ones that have contacted me, at least 3 weeks ago, but I haven’t been able to get a slot with them in spite trying day/night. I managed to get one with Asda, I bought way too much as I was excited about being able to shop. I think I’ll rely on family to pick bits up for me in future otherwise searching takes over my life. Hopefully things will get back to normal again soon for most and they won’t need home deliveries anymore, leaving them for those that always use them. Joy.
I have found slots on Sainsbury's but usually they are only for a few days in advance, on Sunday they had plenty of slots for Tuesday and Wednesday. Never seen any available for Tescos, Morrisons and Waitrose, Co-op don't deliver in my area. I have occasionally seen slots available with Ocado but Asda have me a recurring slot with no delivery charge even though I was not a regular customer. I think it depends where abouts in the country you live as to availability.
Sainsburys emailed me to say they recognised me as vulnerable several weeks ago. However when I go to the site and log in and ask for a delivery I get the same message every time telling me that they don't recognise me as a vulnerable person. I did ring the vulnerable 'hot line' and was told that it was a software glitch and would be sorted....nothing yet.
However Waitrose did the same and gives me access to 3 weeks worth of delivery slots instead of just one for ordinary mortals. The only problem with Waitrose is that you have a minimum spend of £60 instead of £40, and you need to spend that straight away to secure your slot. I now load the basket up with wine to the value of £60 quickly to secure my slot, and then at my leisure replace the wine with things I really want over the next few days. It's like playing a game!
Good thinking xx
I registered with all the supermarkets as I was shopping around for slots. I got an email from Asda to say I could have a regular slot before I got the texts/letter from NHS. The other supermarkets still haven’t been in contact. I will stick with Asda in any case as they keep the slot for me every week as long as I order 2 full days ahead of delivery. To be in with a chance you should create accounts with all the supermarkets. As others have previously said it seems easier to get slots with Iceland and the delivery is free. I hope you get something soon as it’s so stressful keep looking for the slots. X
Hi Inamoment, I am also shielding, after receiving my letter 2 wks ago, I spent an afternoon on the phone to Tesco Sainsbury’s and Waitrose, It was worthwhile, as they took all my details, and registered me there and then, that evening had a slot for Sainsbury’s, next day offered slot for Tesco, unfortunately Waitrose person was a bit offhand, even tho I have been shopping there for years! I hope this helps, just have patience on the phone, ha ha. Keep well.
Vunerable slots are available on Mondays. Still, you should order early.
Ive had my acknowledgement of vulnerability from Sainsburys but hasn’t made any difference. Still no slots. In fact my wife finds them for me and she’s not on our list! Same with Tesco. No slots.
Hi inamoment. I was weeks trying to get Sainsbury’s to recognise me as a vulnerable customer, despite shopping online with them for years. It was so exhausting, searching for a slot every day.
I ran out of steam so a bossy relative emailed a copy of my shielding letter to the local shop manager. Still nothing, so she phoned them up & refused to hang up til they told her who to contact, it was a phone no in Glasgow. She phoned that & firstly they said they could only discuss it with the “account holder”, ie me, but she explained I’m not well enough for all this hassle, ended up getting a bit cross with the woman but my relative is very assertive, used to people doing what she tells them! & eventually they promised to rectify the situation & they did. I got a delivery last night & another next week. Maybe get your daughter to try the same?
Ps I’ll see if she’s still got the magic number!
I would definitely register with other supermarkets rather than relying just on Sainsburys. That way you maximise your chances of getting a slot. Good luck.
I agree, tho I did that & no luck. Morrisons told me I was no 34,499 in the queue! Personally I think a lot depends on where you live
Mine was about 2 weeks BUT I was looking on the site throughout the day, and suddenly some time slots would become available and I snapped one up 2 weeks ago and another one a couple of days ago - In fact I was shocked both times to see a slot!. Just KEEP LOOKING - the time they come up seems to change (or it did in my case)
Sainsbury was the first supermarket to come through for me.
