After telling the nurse yesterday that I hadn’t had a letter about being vulnerable not only did I have the call from the ophthalmologist, but this morning I had a call from the respiratory nurse, and this afternoon I had a text saying I was considered extremely vulnerable and should register immediately! Amazing, the nurse obviously did her bit for me. It’s all happening. I also discovered that Sainsbury’s release slots to its prioritised customers first, which is helpful to know.

My husband had his text this afternoon. Yesterday the respiratory nurse telephoned to make sure his oxygen was ok and that he had back up cylinders as well. Out NHS at its best x

The respiratory nurse asked me if I could let them have some of my oxygen because they are struggling to get it. I agreed as I am on the concentrator in the house and I persuaded the nurse to prescribe a portable concentrator for travel in the car. I am letting them have 4 cylinders, which will leave me with 4 plus the large one which I have in case of a power cut. What a thing that we are running out of oxygen in hospitals.

Nice to know your nurse followed up and got the ball rolling for you. Supermarkets are gradually being notified of those registered as extremely vulnerable. I hope that you are able to get deliveries organised and get you need. Best wishes

I got an email from Sainsbury’s identifying me as vulnerable from ‘government data’ but I think it was because I am over 70. I have had neither text or letter.

But I have recently had a letter from my consultant saying I needed to be shielded. I am not very concerned yet as Sainsbury’s was as good as their word: we put in an order and it came two days later.

I am not sure what the letter would enable apart from that which is the most important thing.

Love

Peter has the Sainsbury’s a/c so presumably prioritised for being over 70.

Go on to gov.uk to register that gets to the supermarkets like tesco Asda sainsburys. Sainsburys seem.to unlock slots for a week ahead. Got mine today. You may get a call from local council checking you are ok you do get a food parcel from them . It was a surprise. Ours was from a phone call from Gov.uk and I just mentioned struggling to get slots at supermarkets. We are lucky our daughter was leaving food on doorstep she has been helping make up food parcels for the children at her school and of course now teaching because of children whis parents are needed at work which means cant come to see us so lots of skyping. Good luck.. you should get nhs text and letter.

I have said I do not need a food parcel, but it would be interesting if I get one , because where would it come from, as I live in Gloucestershire but doctor is in Monmouthshire!

I had phone consultation today with my consultant and told her I had no letter. She said she'll try to get me added to the Shielded Patient List and failing that she'll write to my GP who can add me. Looks like there may be light at the end of the tunnel at last.
