Food glorious food

I got my 12 week house arrest right at the start.

My husband and I keep a well stocked larder and freezer. However with not going out and no online shopping slots we were down to the dregs.

We had some very odd meals from the bottom of the freezer.

Then finally on Monday an email from Tesco giving us a priority slot. A lot of what we wanted wasn't available but hey food.

Then today, before the Tesco order arrived we got a government food parcel. We did say we have shopping coming but were told keep the box, you never know when you can get shopping again,

The box is very generous and has food we were unable to order.

So from nothing left we have food, glorious food.

Oh well done and I am so pleased for you. Don't forget the current rates for pasta and flour are at least £20 each! x

Sadly no pasta or flour in my order. Even though my order was accepted there were quite a few things not available when it arrived. Never mind we have food. I did wonder about selling my body but wouldn't get much for it xxx

Thanks for that. So glad for you. I was a bit annoyed after being assured by Sainsbury’s that I could a have a weekly delivery to find that there weren’t any slots for three weeks. A friend said keep trying. Another friend said try in the evening. So a couple of days later — a delivery slot available the next day!!

I looked in the pm and there was nothing then tried first thing in the morning and there were lots . Arrived last week with a few missing items but generally good service.

It's such a relief not having to go out among the potentially germ ridden isn't it? xx

It's very strange Tesco sent an email with a special link. Used it, lots of things out of stock. Then when the order arrived quite a lot more was not available. However even though it was not everything we wanted it is food. Now Iceland have sent us a special slot too. I'll try for some fresh bits there too.

Happily I was able to add to my order for my neighbours. Lovely people : he is 80 had a triple by pass , has a pacemaker and is now quite frail. His wife is a few years younger than him. They have not had a letter to say stay in but I feel it's right to try to help them where I can.

It is a strange world. You go from next to nothing to full cupboards in a morning. Both my wife are in the shielding group and we both get separate phone calls asking if we are alright for food. Yesterday my wife received a call in the morning, I got one at lunchtime. In the later afternoon I got another call asking if I needed food. Thankfully at this point we do not but it is reassuring to know that help is there if you need it.

Thank goodness you have a well stocked cupboard and freezer Wheezof and so pleased you have got a slot. I have been lucky to get a slot for the last couple weeks, after the delivery I will keep trying for another. A friend of mine usually goes to Aldi on a Tuesday and asks if I need bread or milk, so its working for me at the moment. I was going out on a Wednesday morning for shopping and really didnt feel safe x

If possible please avoid going out. All of us on here would hate to hear that you'd caught the plague. xxx

Pleased to hear you that you have some food and the box so won’t starve. I turned down the box but wonder whether I will get one one day. My husband, Peter, is prioritised with Sainsbury’s so we get offered a slot each week. They run out of the oddest things like washing up liquid. Keep well xx

I had my delivery from Asda this morning and I got pasta, flour, handwash and antibacterial. I feel like I have won the lottery. However not boasting just making the point the stock is starting to come through. Keep trying x

Thanks Wheezyof, for a good laugh. We all have to compromise on what we eat at present but I am lucky and my husband can still go out and shop and my daughter is also keeping an eye on us. This lockdown has certainly brought out the baker and cook in me, yes I cannot stand at the cooker but with hubby's help we have produced some wonderful meals and our freezer is now fully stocked. God bless you and take care, Maximonkey
