Anyone with Covid19 at home

Hi everyone, I have sarcoid pulmonary fibrosis .

Last Friday 9 days ago I got a bad sore throat .by Saturday I was getting waves of high temperature. By Sunday my breathing ( usually oxygen 24/7. 2 sitting and 4 ambulatory ) was worse. I could not walk more than a couple of steps. My temperature was high. After 111 call taken to a and e. . The doctors agreed it might or might not be covid 19. If I went on ward I could be tested, but ran the risk of catching it or something else. I’m in the extremely vulnerable group. We agreed that I will get better or worse, and to come back if worse. That was Sunday night. I’m on mycophenalate which some research has shown to block the virus somewhat, but it might not. A lot seems dependant on personal genetic make up.I now think I’ve got it. I get waves of coughing, sore throat and high temperatures , breathing a lot worse than usual

Some things you read says some people never know they have had it. Some are unwell for about 5 days. It seems often that symptoms are mild for 5-12 days, even longer and then it kicks in with a vengeance.

So I’m sitting here with mild symptoms,.i can walk a bit in the morning, today all over wash and washed hair. But then I get exhausted and go back to bed for the afternoon , usually having a sleep.

Just curious , anyone else dealing with this at home , or had it and recovered. How do you know when you are past the worst?

I have self isolated for 4 weeks now, so don’t know how I’ve got it. But staying with daughter and family, so 7 of us. We keep cleaning hands, surfaces etc.

.

Hi there, I'm new to the forum, myself and family all came down with a sore throat virus 10th March, husband and kids recovered I got severe breathing difficulty 10 days later. 111 said I wasn't severe enough to send ambulance, my Dr prescribed prednisolone as i have severe asthma and amoxicillin. I'm still on steroids and now on 3rd lot of antibiotics for pneumonia. I had to call an ambulance yesterday as no improvement and increased breathing difficulty they gave me oxygen and nebuliser but said it was likely covid 19 and would not recommend me going into hospital just to be safe to continue my treatment at home, my husband is doing everything . Still cant get out of bed except to go to the bathroom that feels like I've run a marathon, my legs have just stopped working and can feel the pain in my lungs, still really short of breath, no energy, muscle pain, high heart rate, high blood pressure. I'm hoping the antibiotics will do something soon or that my immune system will fight this off. I can't give any advice but just to let you know your not on your own.

I had a virus 2 weeks ago and was put on amoxicillin and was beginning to feel better towards the ends of the course..then I woke up last Sunday with a very sore throat sore eyes. Couldn't open one of them sore ribs..I phoned my Dr and he said It was a very high risk of me catching something at the hospital and he would try and manage my symptoms at home he has put me on a course of clarithomycin and I have temporarily stopped taking mycophenalate..my symptoms are changing daily and i feel sick my ribs ache my legs are weak my mouth is dry I'm almost 3 weeks into it and some days I wake up and feel like I'm getting better then the next I wake up with another symptom I am also very vulnerable I have interstitial lung disease pulmonary hypertension and polymyositis I am like you and oxygen dependant thankfully so far my oxygen levels seem to be holding but my pulse rate is high some days I would like to think It will start to get Better now...I have also been isolating for 3 weeks...I hope you feel better soon

You really are going through it. Poor you. But if you are sometimes a bit better, surely that’s a good sign. It’s day 10 I think for me. It comes in waves. Ok for a bit, and then high temp and tiredness, and stomach pains are a new one and eye pain .It feels like a sword of damacles hanging over me. Up to now low level symptoms but keep waiting for the overwhelming ones.. I do too much and then mini collapse, panting away.

Let us know how you do. And good wishes all the way

Thankyou jomo I feel ok today holding my oxygen and managing the basics I seem to be having more good days then bad recently so I'll take that as a positive although I have developed a chesty cough that I'll keep an eye on..the symptoms you are describing was how how I felt last week and after 5 days started to feel better hopefully you will to take care jomo wishing you all the very best for a speedy recovery x

Possibly you are already over the worst Jomo. What you describe is like what I experience if I get the flu and lung infection together. Not Nice.

If you deteriorate further call 111 again or 999 if you are really concerned.

Its good you are moving around as laying too much in bed can lead to pneumonia and you definitely do not want to add that to the mix.

Hope you are feeling better real soon.

Glad you're feeling slightly better. It seems there is a conundrum re being hospitalised. Hope you feel better soon, but if not call for an ambulance (don't risk staying at home if you feel any worse).

You’re right .it is a conundrum. Today’s papers seem to say they ae using a points system to see who gets care in hospital. I’d rather be at home anyway

It must be so much scarier in hospital now, so if you can recuperate at home it's probably safer, unless of course things get too bad Jomo. Fingers crossed you'll be feeling a lot better soon. Must be so difficult for you - sending big hugs x

Do you feel hungry with virus? I do and enjoy very small tasty meals, taste and smell unaffected. It’s easy to eat too much ( I need about 6 spoonfuls. If I eat more I get stomach cramps and regret

Hi JOMO,WISH YOU A SPEEDY RECOVERY.

My husband had diarrhoea with stomach pain and high temperature on 11th April. Rang 111 and they asked him to come to A&e where they checked his blood test and they came clear so they presumed its Covid 19 because of his symptoms and asked him to self isolate. After 7 days he felt alot infact almost better. On day 10 he started getting dry cough and chest tightening and breathless. Then GP prescribed Prednisone and Amoxicillin. He felt little better. On day 16 he suddenly felt breathless with pain in his lungs and had to call ambulance and after checkup he has been diagnosed with pleurisy.

Doctor asked him to take rest and finish the antibiotics course and i hope he gets well soon too..he is asthmatic too

I have COPD and am on on oxygen. I’ve had covid and recovered a few days ago. I had it for 4 and a half weeks in total, but after the first 2 it was mainly peaks and troughs of it partly returning.

You can’t relax with this virus can you. You begin to feel you’re getting better, then wham another stage hits you. I’ve just had to learn not to over exert myself because then I collapse for a few hours. If I do less I think it helps. Hope you are past the worst now. Pleurisy in not nice, good luck

Xx jo
