Big Brother is watching You.

Right now the news is always about the corona virus pandemic, rightly so. But also creeping in is another theme, governments and surveillance. This really is a time of heightened citizen tracking of our electronic whereabouts, where we are and where our devices tell the state where we are, every moment of our lives.

Is this a good thing I ask myself? The moment seems to say that it is a necessary outcome of combating Covid-19, but is it a sufficient outcome, or do we lose more than we gain?

Can’t you turn of your location tracking on your phone- or just turn it off ?

Good idea, Why not? or does the State have other ways of making you comply?

The state has other, underhand ways of circumventing your electronic rights.

This is part of the problem with Huawei, because the Chinese govt would not afford the CIA a backdoor into their devices.

As they saw it, only the Chinese govt had the right to spy on her people. 😉

An impasse was inevitable, because, by that token, any of their phones sold abroad, in territories the CIA regarded as fair game, would also be protected.

Govts, obviously, through laws, favours or pressure ensure locators in mobile devices are activated at all times.

Switching your phone on activates them, charging activates them, as does fully charging.

Co-dependent apps activate them, such as factory apps (test, etc), app or device updates, backups, Bluetooth, the list is seemingly endless.

Short of removing the battery, because certain apps will switch on your phone in silent mode, activating the camera and microphones, whether you like it or not, or covering the phone in tinfoil, you just have to accept big brother is a fact of life already.

The only other alternative is to use a burner...a cheap, throwaway phone.

Unless you have your mobile in your pocket while you are robbing a bank I don’t see a problem.

All I can say is whoever is monitoring my data is going to be very bored. 😊

You mean you're not too sure about a government tracking you and having your dna and showing up to quarantine you for whatever reason into the future. Well, if they ever decide to quarantine something like large noses...I am sunk!

On a more serious not Cateran Goole have always had this information, they have just decided to share it with the government. And if it saves lives why not?

If I contracted Covid 19 I would be able to give contact details of people I know but not people I have passed in the street, or have been on a bus with.

I know due to the lock down tracing is no longer happening, but in the long term as the pandemic subsides and we are left with smaller outbreaks again as life gets back to normal, this will be a good thing.

It makes me laugh people saying/writing/posting ... When life gets back to normal! 🤦🙄🤔 Life prior to Coronavirus/Covid-19 really wasn't normal at all!

I much prefer this slower less aggressive noisey greedy violent nasty consumerist way of life we are presently living in. Reminiscent almost of life in the 70's & 80's before the 90's messed everything & almost everyone up! I don't want life to return to its previous way since the 90's it isn't a nice or pleasant way to live life daily. Just a created of depression, stress, greed, selfishness & suicide that is not normal.

Not everyone takes their phone with them every time they go out. I'm also resisting an upgrade to a Fitbit 4 because it comes with GPS tracking.

I see the conspiracy theorist David Icke has had his interview taken off YouTube. Poor chap 😉 google.co.uk/amp/s/www.bbc....
