Some advice on self isolating please.

I wonder if anyone could offer advise. I suffer with asthma that is pretty poorly controlled. I have a Qvar preventer inhaler and the usual blue inhaler. I normally have to take my blue inhaler 2-3 times a day. I always end up with chest infections when I get a cold and was really poorly when I contracted normal flu about 6 years ago. I now get called for the annual flu jab.

I am really concerned about the Covid 19 outbreak. I am not sure if I should be in the self isolating group or just practising social distancing. I work full time and have no option but to use public transport and my job isn't possible to do from home as I'm an activities coordinator in a care home. I have the added worry that I share a small bungalow with my mum. She is 76 and has COPD so I'm concerned about bringing any infection home to her. Everything I read online seems conflicting. Does anyone know if I'd get any help from the government if I was to self isolate for the 12 weeks both to keep myself and my mum safe from the virus.

Thanks

Julie

I can't remember all the information myself, but it is available through this forum and on the BBC site, different videos, posts relating to different things, check the .gov site and links here on health unlocked below. You can always check with the helpline on monday as well.

General advice is that if you have the flu Jab you should self isolate. You can apply for benefits whilst doing this . Ring your local job centre plus for advice on which you can apply for. Plus your employer should at least pay you SSP.
