My daughter used to take theophylline at one time, then it was replaced by the brown steroid preventer. But that was a long time ago

I just looked on line .....check the PSNC site which has an explanation.

Could you contact your pharmacist to ask for advice or the BLF helpline on 03000 030 555

Thanks, I’ll keep checking.

I might just go without. All the “Phyllis” have bad side effects.

Yes you can have Uniphyllin Continus or Phyllocontin. This was flagged up by MHRA some time ago

I found it marvellous for reducing inflammation. Improved my asthma symptoms no end. Unfortunately it made me so tachycardic I couldn’t relax, let alone sleep, & had to discontinue

Slo Phylin has now gone out of production. You should have been advised by your GP a while ago. The name of the drug that is also Theophylline is called Uniphyllin you can not just change over to the new drug without having a blood test first, and again three to four days after starting the new tablets. I was on 500mg a day of Slo Phylin and now on 400mg a day of Uniphyllin. ake up of the drugs are different hence the blood tests.

My GP moved me straight over to uniphyllin without blood tests or any other checks.. made me feel ill so stopped after 4 weeks.(have since found out that was a mistake, but nobody told me)

The same happened to me five years ago with the two drugs in reverse order. Production had been stopped temporary, doc changed me over a few weeks later i ended up in hospital as no blood tests had been done and he had prescribed the same dose as the other drug. . I spent a week in hospital because of it. I still love Theophylline

Mmm am losing faith in my health practitioners in general. Don’t know wether it’s lack of resources, ageism, all the best people have moved on, but I seem to be chasing around looking for reliable information..

The fear of retribution I find in most health professionals on being honest about the problems they have, is disheartening.

I don't know the drug, assuming SLO means slow release the actual drug is it theophylline your doctor may be able to suggest an alternative.
