The discharge doctor has just been round and said he was unable to discharge our daughter because her blood test cpr blood test was 120 normal is 5 to 10 he said if she was his patient he would get her a full scan . He said it could be lung infection but the doctor yesterday ruled that out. Has anyone here had this test with such high number. Sorry this is not exactly what this site is for. Just so worried as we are unable to go in and see her . Her daughter ( our grandaughter was there when the doctor came in and she was shocked. Think it should be crp test

The crp blood test in an indicator of inflammation of some sort so I hope the medical professionals will soon find out what it is. Hoping things improve very soon.

Thinking of you all. Xxx

Yes the range goes up to 285....My own was actually 285 as I had bilateral pneumonia with sepsis. From memory a range of 120 would indicate that an inflammatory process was present. Normally an infection. For example my last one came back at 155 and I had a chest infection with a slight rise in temperature. Sadly a CRP on indicates something is going on not what. I hope your daughter feels better soon.

As we all do when it's are children.

Sassy’s right, very high levels are an indication of inflammation, to be expected with widespread infection. Are they treating her with IV antibiotics? Once the drugs kick in those levels will come down. You must be so worried but thank goodness she’s got a hospital bed now & is getting treatment. Do let us know how she goes on

Thank you she had quite a lot of iv antibiotics. The help on this site should be on prescription. Thank you once again xxx

in reply toalyvonne

Last time I needed IVs, crp levels were 140. A week later they were under 100 but it was another couple of weeks before they returned to normal. It would be nice if they could discover which bug had caused her illness but quite often they never do

That’s wonderful news alyvonne. I’m very relieved on your behalf. I set a lot of store by how someone feels. She’ll probably be quite weak for a while though. It’s obviously been a nasty infection, & these are powerful drugs. Thank god for them though!

Thank you Bernadette. Xxx

My crp is always high even without an infection so my guess is your daughters is so high because of the infection.

here is information on the crp test:

You daughter is in the right place.

Hope she is feeling much better real soon.

Take good care and try to chat with your daughter on the phone if you can it may help to ease your worry.
