It rather looks like events are closing without the intervention of Boris et al. A lot of some others are now also being cancelled as well. I wonder if Boris will try to say "Well, you know we always knew that this would happen anyway" in a his typical manner and try to wrestle some sort of control.
There will be more cases like this, a lot of events will get cancelled as participants get sick, it is obvious.
One of the the things the Gov. have said was that banning supporters, playing the games behind closed doors would drive people, into close proximity, in pubs to watch the games.
Suspending the matches completely solves that scenario completely, so yes, very responsible, both towards the players and the fans. I have to agree with you 100%.
Think Boris has been listening "across the pond" to all the criticisms Trump is getting from our (tongue in cheek) 'journalists?' May be trying to avoid criticism. J
The list goes on here regarding closures.... Media here seems more interested here in nailing the government for some non-existent inefficiency than in patients affected, or reporting actual events, areas where virus is showing strong......J
My cynical two penneth...If the government had cancelled them they may have been able to claim insurance ? Knew if they waited they would have to cancel the events themselves thus no claims to be paid out ? xx
