Had my results from my sugar test, it is high and have an appointment with the diabetic nurse on Monday, could be that on a good day i eat a whole packet of custard creams, two slices of cake, and some chocolate when i am on the computer, As i told the wife i cant understand how the count is high, so a wake up call for me and since the results i have given up biscuits, cake and chocolate, as well as that i dont smoke or drink so i am inline to be the next pope,

Sometimes it has a lot to do with what you eat, but not always. I have type 2 and everything spikes my sugar levels. I can even go to 150 blood sugar from chicken wings and a salad. You can control the disease 2 ways. 1 is to give up the carbs and control with diet, the other is you can eat carbs and use insulin to fix your numbers. I can eat an entire medium pizza as long as I inject 80 units of fast acting insulin. For me though now I am at the point that my morning sugar levels are always about 140 and higher. Even if I did not eat the night before, or had only meat without carbs. I have to inject 13 units of insulin every morning. I do not even check my numbers anymore in the AM. I just inject every morning and knock down the fasting numbers. Sometimes diet alone will not be enough to control as if you have lost too many beta cells, your pancreas cannot keep up with even the fasting sugars. I only eat 1 meal a day. One large meal in the afternoon and drink diet iced tea the rest of the time. What is your A1C?

I forgot to tell you that being on steroids can cause high blood sugar that is not caused by diabetes, but by the steroids.
